I am here visiting a friend that is living in the complex :) a 3 storey high apartment with hot tub on the roof terrace!! WOW! it is amazing!!!! I would definately recommend it (need a car though as far from most things).....there is a large pool shared by all users of the complex and also a separate heated pool area! Also a hot spa in the middle of both pools!! Which is lovely!! There is a gym also and by the pool a patio area with tables and chairs and a lovely clean BBQ area :)...the pool is clean and tidy and is always being maintained and the grounds are kept immaculate!!!........stay here you will love it xxx

Excellent roomy apartments with everything you need and more. A wonderful place to stay, especially for families with children who love to swim. The pool is a highlight and is just huge, delightfully warm with a hot hot spa. You can swim rain or shine. Perfectly located 5 min from airport and right in the middle of the Sunshine coast. A 30 min drive to Noosa or Caloundra and only 10 min from stunning Coolum beach. There is a nice beach 1 min walk. Major tourist attractions are an easy 20 min drive. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and again. There are stairs in the villas but child gates are available.

Room Tip: A poolside villa is a must. Just wonderful to be able to step straight into the pool from your own patio.

Have been there for 2 years now with friends and one of the most enjoyable places to stay on the Sunshine Coast

Location: Easy to get to. Marcoola is a very small town but has everything you need in terms of food and liquor. Supermarkets are a 5 min drive down the road. Very quiet location with a 2 min walk from resort through beach scrub to beach.

Rooms: Have stayed in 3 bed townhouse which was fantastic. Split across 3 stories, offers modern bathrooms, kitchen, home theatre (handy when raining) and ducted aircon. Stayed in 2 bed unit which overlooks pool last year which is also nice. Some may find it noisy if kids are in the pool but going there for new years, we may our fair share of noise too.

Amenities: Set across an award winning pool which spans the entire length of resort. One of the best design pools I've swam in. Also has smaller heated pool and large spa. BBQ area available as well.

Things to do: We went up to the tavern which is under Surf Air which was great. Plenty of sport to watch and cheap/good food. They also have a pretty good restaurant. Many other good spots if you want to head up to Coolum. Stumbled upon Coolum Beach Resort which did amazing ribs, steak and salads. If you're looking for a casual bit, very recommended.

In all, a great place to stay for families and couples wanting a quieter spot away from Mooloolaba or Maroochydoore.

Room Tip: If you have the capacity, go for a 3 bedroom townhouse

Over priced, run down , noisy!

And I am sick of hotels or resorts like this charging 45.00 for a cup in the sink !!! Hidden charges like this annoy me to no end! Paying 250 for a overnight room and having to clean it !!

Will never stay here again !

Sand_Dunes_Resort, General Manager at Sand Dunes Resort, responded to this reviewResponded January 11, 2012

The management of Sand Dunes Resort welcomes genuine reviews. Regrettably the only fact within this guest review is that the guest did stay 2 nights.
We are a 5 year old 4.5 AAA rated self catering resort and are assessed for our rating.
Being self catering guests are responsible for removal of rubbish and dishwashers are provided in the rooms, for dishes prior to departure. We do ask, and it is clearly written on a notice on the
fridge door at eye level, advising that if guests wish these services there is a $30 charge, not $45 as stated, for this service, this is not a hidden charge. These guests left considerable rubbish and dishes, which photo's can prove and were advised of the $30 charge.
Our pools are not unlocked until 7am with staff present through to at least 8am, so we do not
have children in the pool area at 6am as stated.
These guests did not pay $250 per night, they paid $209 per night and booked through a last minute site.
We are a family orientated resort property and this review was not posted when the guests left the resort but after they received the email regarding the $30 charge, which suggests this review was only prompted by the charge and not a true indication of their stay at Sand Dunes.

We recently spent 4 nights at the Sand Dunes Resort. Our room was a 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor (Unit 39). We liked the fact that there was a small grassed area outside the unit with a gate with direct access to the large pool. The room was modern and guests are given pool towels and small amount of toiletries are provided. We will be staying here next time we're on the Sunshine Coast.
