“non smoker in a smoking room”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

Quite a "no frills" motel and generally you get what you pay for. Due to demand, we ended up in a smoking room and it reeks of smoke. There are cigarette burns everywhere - on the (dirty, stained) carpet, on the bathroom sink, even on top of the mini frig. Chairs in the room are filthy and beds pretty hard. The rooms are pretty standard hotel room size. There is a TV but we never turned it on. Lots of noise from other rooms and in the hallway.

This hotel has seen better days and really does need a good clean up, makeover and update. No coffee machine in the room but they do serve coffee in the lobby.

The motel sits on the edge of town and near the railway tracks. There is a train about every 60 to 90 minutes which blows its whistle each and every time it comes through. I'm sure you can hear it throughout the town, not just at the hotel.

Staff is friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a non-smoking room on the north side of the hotel.

We stayed one night, 2 adults and a 13 yr old. The room was big with 2 double beds. Bedding was clean, but was dated. It needed a good carpet and overall cleaning. Continental breakfast was cereal, toast and fruit, which was fine. Owners we friendly and accommodating.

It was really easy to find and comfortable staying. We stayed for 2 weeks and it wasn't that expensive. We really enjoyed Cypress Hills park that's close by. The service is great the staff are really nice to everyone, We usually ate our breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel. There's even a bar that was really clean and fun. It was a great stay!

Staff make up for what this Inn lacks in modernness. The rooms are large and so is the parking lot. The rooms stay remarkably cool even with 25 C temperatures outside. We found we only had to use the air conditioner one night. Coffee is available in the lobby at 6:00 AM. Laundry facilities and ice are available midway down the long hallways. The facility caters to a number of crews, but noise is minimal. Our son stated that their shower/bathtub combinations are the most comfortable he has ever experienced. We'd certainly stay at this facility again.

Hard to rate this place - to get inside you have to walk past a rather raunchy bar and a few strange characters hanging out, but the room itself was fine - lots of space and comfortable beds.

It was also hard to find, as the large sign on top was not facing the highway coming from the north, as we did, so we went right by it and had to ask for directions when we knew we were lost.
