“Rustic Cabin”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2013

We stayed here in one of the 2 bedroom cabins. The cabin itself was pretty basic with minimal furniture and decorations (it could have been a bit cleaner, also). It had a frig, microwave, and stove and the kitchen had everything you need to cook for yourself. Bedrooms were relatively spacious and the beds were comfortable. There was a fire pit outside with wood (and an axe!) and benches. However, note that there is no phone in the cabin, no TV and the wifi only works in the lobby of the hotel (and depends on where you sit!). The resort staff was friendly and helpful. For value, we found the price high for what we considered off season but they are the only place to stay in the Centre Block! Very quiet.

We found the hikes around the Centre Block quite enjoyable and for the most part, easy to do. Make sure to take in the sunset for the Lookout point. You can see forever.

Getting to this place is crazy. You drive through the Saskatchewan badlands where nothing grows higher than the knee of a grasshopper then you turn the corner and boom you're in Cypress Park with 150+ foot tall trees everwhere. Some said tranquil in their review and that is spot on. My room, in the hotel not the adjacent town houses was really nice, well appointed. The bed was fantastic. I've rarely slept as good and the sheets had that great clean hotel sheet smell. Nice new TV as well though I never turned it on. The bathroom is not as fancy as the bedroom furniture but it meets your needs. The shower water was hot and there was plenty of it. My first morning I woke up to this crunching sound and was all freaked out that there were mice in my room. THERE WERE NOT. I had the window open and a deer was standing outside my window munching on some leaves. That was awesome. What a way to wake up. Other things of note. The wifi was spotty when we were there. Better to not be connected at this place anyway. There's a beach volleyball court and a fire pit and it's just a few minutes to a great go-cart track run by a super fun couple. I was probably most amazed by the food. We were 14 people for dinner and everyone one of us thought our meal was great. Kudos to the kitchen. I would stay here again for sure if I was in the area and am thinking about making a trip back with the family so they can see it. Sadly the pool, zipline and canopy tours were closed while I was there. But it was after labour day.

Located in the middle of the Cypress Hills Park, it's a great place to stay to be convienent to everything. We stayed her because we tried the zip-lining and wanted to explore the park. The rooms are very nice, but the bathroom was a little dated and needed some work.

We stayed in a hotel room for 3 nights and had a nice relaxing stay. The bed was very comfortable, the room itself was average, nothing fancy but no complaints either. The room was very clean as well as the bathroom. No internet was fine with me as we came here to get away from it all, and go out and do things. I did get a card that said Wifi was available in the lobby area, but I never tried it out. The location is set right in the forrest with lots of hiking trails around it.

One night we had supper in the lounge and another morning we had breakfast in the restaurant. The food was good, portions were right, prices a little high but people must understand where they are and put it into perspective. We would gladly stay there again.

Has changed name to Resort at Cypress Hills but is the same place with same owners. Reservations made by email rather than directly online.
The resort is located on the Saskatchewan side of the Cypress Hills
Intraprovincial park. On this trip east we took time to explore both sides of the park - a great interlude. The resort is in a relatively secluded area in a lodge pole pine forest. Incredible clean air and peaceful. Room spacious, modern and very reasonable for this type of venue. We ate dinner and breakfast in Ivan's restaurant separately reviewed. Would have loved to spend more time here to explore the area more and enjoy the serenity of the outdoors. This is a real treasure.

Stayed one night while visiting Fort Walsh and Cypress Hills interprovincial park. A beautiful location within the park. Grounds include a beach volleyball court, basketball court and a small area to play soccer. The evening was filled with families enjoying the great outdoors.
Rooms were clean and well appointed. Keep in mind this is an older establishment so no new bells or whistles!
Restaurant was convenient and slightly pricey but worth it as you do not have to leave the resort.
All in all a great time!

Stayed in a condo unit for a long weekend. I was very impressed by the professional attention and concern shown by the proprietor - especially in addressing a concern that I raised.

The good:
1. Clean. Did have TV (about 20 channels), and a nice fireplace. Tidy, and well maintained.
2. WiFi Internet available...
3. Most cutlery, tableware and basic appliances (toaster, coffeepot, microwave) provided.
4. Outstanding customer service - a concern I raised was directed to the proprietor, who personally attended to corrective action. Very impressed.
5. Reasonably priced drinks in the lounge.
6. Cypress Hills location! Near the lake, walking distance to ice cream cones, canoeing, ziplines and other attractions. Surrounded by conifer forest.
7. Sincerely appreciated pet option.

The bad:
1. Noisy. There is minimal sound-proofing between units. Depending on neighbours, you might hear every footstep, dog bark, and furniture shuffle from your neighbours. But, to be fair, after the first few sounds, we adapted. Bring earplugs as insurance.
2. Sleeping for six, but might be tight for six adults to be indoors for any extended period. You're in Cypress Hills, however, so enjoy the outdoors.
3. ....we could only get WiFi coverage in the kitchen of our unit. You're in Cypress Hills, however, so enjoy the outdoors.
4. Kitchen utensils...A minor concern: No soup/cereal bowls provided. If you are reading this prior to a trip: bring along a nonstick fry pan (not provided). You'll thank me, later.

The ugly:
Worst moment of visit: listening to the staff on-duty in the lounge backbiting a wedding party - and the bride in particular - who were in an adjoining room. It was highly improper, and the staff showed no concern for who might overhear. I'm certain these staff members were not representative of the Resort. But, the experience left an impression on us.
