We stayed for 10 days at this hotel and really enjoyed ourselves. The grounds are very clean and well landscaped. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly desk clerk telling us we were upgraded to a 1 bdrm suite - which essentially was a condo. It was extremely clean and quite comfortable.

The lobby is just lovely being completely open with a stunning view of the manicured courtyard, pool and ocean. The lobby is filled with nice furniture arrangements to mingle with guests, sit alone or sit at the bar. There's a business office, too, which offers free internet service - which was very convenient.

I do agree with comments on keeping the beach more litter free. On the weekends it attracts more guests and locals and it should have been cleaned throughout the day. It wasn't awful, but it could have been cleaner. There's plenty of lounge chairs to go around too which is nice. The pool is fantastic and the swim-up bar is nice but I was frustrated more than once when a bartender could not be found at the pool or in the lobby - even at peak times. I'm on vacation! I want to those foo-foo drinks!

The restaurant's menu is great if you're a beef eater - I'm not and was challenged not to have several repeat dinners. My hubby did rave on several of the steak dishes. Meals are a bit on the pricey side - like $20 for fish and $6 for a dinner salad - which is not included in the meal. They do have a GREAT wine list.

There are great beaches to the north and south of this hotel if you're up for a little adventure driving around. Getting to the hotel IS NOT a problem. Although I did find the map on their website to be incorrect. From the SJU airport you take HWY 26, not 52. All else is correct. Roads are all well marked. It takes 2.5 - 3 hours from SJU.

We would absolutely return to this hotel.

I try to be as critical as possible of most of the places I visit on the island just because as an islander I see what we provide visitors in terms of accomodations, service, friendly treament, ammenities, etc.

I stayed with my wife overnight as a quick getaway before she gives birth to our first child later this month (june 2005). We stayed on May 21st. Unfortunately the beach was very dirty due to recent heavy rains and rivers that drain into the sea not too far from the resort. But the pool and poolside bar were enough for our short stay. The staff doesn't do a good enough job of keeping the pool clean on a daily basis. There are several big trees near the pool that during this time of year are pollinating and their little flowers end up in the pool. The poolside bar is very convenient.

The resort layout is fantastic. It has an ample courtyard in the middle surrounded by the guest room towers (just 6 floors high). Not all the towers have ocean views but the ones that do have are premium. The rooms are confortable and very nicely decorated. Ours was a little musty smelling and the bed comforter needed replacement. Some dust from the ceiling stucco had fallen on top of the bed when we arrived, probably due to filtration problems. The bathroom was quite large for a hotel but the shower head and water pressure were horrendous. Otherwise, very clean and well put.

The landscaping on the grounds is well kept and gives the resort a nice laid back feel. The trees on the courtyard are healthy and when in bloom look fabulous. As you make your way into the hotel there is a direct line of sight from the lobby through the courtyard and to the pool area and ocean horizon. That is great architectural design. It gives you a sense of place as soon as you get there. The lobby is open and has a small bar for a mid afternoon drink or post meal cocktail.

We only had breakfast at the restaurant but although pricey, the food is very good and plenty. Their dinner menu is mostly meats and is supposedly real good. They have an open kitchen so you see your food being cooked.

The size of the resort is perfect. It's small but well proportioned so nothing is too far but at the same time you don't feel crammed up.

I'd reccommend this resort to anyone coming to visit PR or any local looking for a quick retreat.

We just got home from a 10 days in Puerto Rico. 3 of them were spent at the Rincon Beach Resort. I wish we had spent more there. It was beautiful. We were there for our 20th anniversary. We spent 7 days in San Juan and wanted to spend our anniversary on the West side of the island which we had never been to. We decided to give the RBR a shot. We are glad that we did. It was a quiet, pristine place that reeked of relaxation.

The pool was nice but the beach was even better. We spent most of the time swimming and laying around having tropical drinks. If you want lots of excitement this is probably not the place for you but if you're looking for a nice out of the way and quiet place to spend relaxing in a sun drenched beach, this is the place for you.

The room we stayed in had a nice deck overlooking the beach. We had our 6 year old Daughter who didn't get board by "just hanging around the pool."

There's shopping in Mayaguez (20-25 minutes) and golf up the coast (30 minute drive).

All in all we didn't want to leave. We would recommend this resort for folks that are looking for a no frills, quiet and relaxing time.

Went there in early may 2005 for 3 days; upon arrival (on a Tuesday), there were about 5 people in the hotel, so the whole pool and beach was ours;
Hotel room: very clean with ocean view, newly built, nice balconies, refrigerator, built-in-safe, clean bathroom;
Pool: clean, large; the jacuzzi worked only on the day of our arrival, then they cleaned it and opened it up two days later when we were leaving;
Beach: small, nothing special
Food: did not try the food in their restaurant since there were so few people in and thought we're better off going out to Rincon and Malaguyez; drinks at the poolside bar were very good, but a little on the expensive side ($5-7 each)
Local area: having a car is a must; we went out to eat for every meal except breakfast; the closest decent restaurant is about 1/2 mile towards Rincon, called "The carriage" or something like that; Many other choices in the surrounding cities;
Driving: not as bad as other complained (however I'm born in Europe and used to this type of traffic); just don't rent a huhe SUV and you'll be fine.
The downside: Isolated from the city, gets boring if you don't have a car
Conclusion: if a quiet sunny beach away from the rest of the world is your thing, then this is the place

While the drive from San Juan was kind of grueling, the Rincon Beach Resort was definitely worth the trip. We arrived in late January, just in time to miss the major blizzard that hit the Northeast. The hotel itself looks even better than pictured, very pretty. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. We had an ocean view on the third floor and were treated to a beautiful sunset each evening as we dressed for dinner.

Except for a few fallen leaves, the beach was clean as was the pool. The poolside bar was a real treat, most any drink was available there. The food at the beach snack bar was good and fairly reasonable. The hotel restaurant was outstanding but the dinner menu was fairly expensive. There is a nice breakfast buffet, also menu offerings. Because we always had a late breakfast, we never tried the lunches.

Even though it's still the Atlantic Ocean, the water was a deep blue color, not the grey we're used to in New Jersey. Because the resort is located in a cove, the water was calm with relatively few waves, and very clear. The hotel is surrounded by mountains, very scenic.

The surrounding neighborhood is very relaxed with a lot of inexpensive bars. Friendly area. Staff at hotel was great. Though I rated the hotel as 4 stars, above average, it really was an excellent experience and I would return to Rincon in a moment!

We are just back from 4 nights at the Rincon Beach Resort (April 4th to 8th, 2005). We had a great time!!!
We (my wife and my son (3)) stayed in the Deluxe room on the 2nd floor: the room and the bathroom were clean and the balcony was facing west for great sunsets (when it didn't rain).
The resort is a bit expansive; we ate at the restaurant the first night, the food was very good, but a bit to expansive for our budget. All other nights, we went to Rincon for dinner: local food is fantastic, and the prices are very acceptable (for food and drinks). We had breakfast at the resort, they have a nice buffet, but the menu is also very good (if you are 2 adults, I recommend one of you to choose from the menu). For lunch the pool side restaurant offered some great sandwiches, burgers...
Contrary to the previous review, the beach and the pool were clean (no cigarette buts ...) the beach was pretty calm, it's not yet the Caribbean sea, so it's not blue, but it's very clear. The pool was nice (a bit of sand in the bottom). My son loves to play in the sand, and we did not find anything dangerous while making sand castles.
Rincon is a very nice little town, we went to the lighthouse, check out some surfers, there is also a science museum but it was close (it's open in the morning).
You need a car to enjoy some site seeing. And if you have forgot beach toys for your kids, don't worry there are plenty of stores (Kmart and others) where you can get all these things.

We just returned from a stay March 24-29, 2005. The pictures you see of the Rincon Beach Resort are in fact accurate, because they are far away. We were sorely disappointed in this "resort" hotel. We stayed there for 5 nights, but would have left if we had not already paid in full up front. The rooms are fine, but the bathroom is very small - with 4 people it makes it almost unmanageable. The pool was dirty - kids dumping their drinks it it daily and the stuff from the trees falling into it (this can't be helped, but the drink thing can). The giant hot tub would have been inviting had it not been green - all the toddlers and kids played in it! The pool bar ran out of most all of the food by friday (we arrived Thursday) and their excuse was " it's the weekend" - wouldn't that be when a hotel would be MOST supplied? They also ran out of many of the bar mixers. The food at the restaurant was good, but very expensive. The food at the pool bar was all fried. We only ate breakfasts there and ventured into Rincon and Mayaguez for other meals. Beware - the drinks are expensive as well. The beach was a total disappointment. The sand is so full of rocks, seashells, cig butts and branches that it's difficult to walk out on. The water is a lovely shade of brown. No caribbean blue found here! There is no concierge either. No motorized sports around and only beat up paddle boards and boats to rent. Go elsewhere for entertainment. The one thing that I really couldn't stand was that the stairwells were filthy. Food, dead bugs, gum and worst of all hair!!!!! EEEEW! They weren't cleaned once in the 5 days we were there! They did show movies outside one night (friday, I think) and had an outrageously loud band playing in the center plaza until 10. Other than that - the only thing to do is catch sun. That's about it. The resort buildings are really pretty, but this "resort" has a lot of work to do if it wants to compete with others in the area.
