“What a great place to stay!!!”

Last december my boyfriend and I stayed for a long weekend at Miltons Lodge. What can I say. We had the best time ever. The room was very big and so romantic. Everything was very clean and in the restaurant we had a fabolous meal for a very good price. Also the English breakfast was very well made and so big, I couldn't finish it. Miltons is run by a nice couple who made us feel realy welcome. We will definitely come back this year for another long weekend, but then with the three of us. Me, my boyfriend and our newborn baby.

Excellent value for money.
We booked the dinner/ bed and breakfast package and could actualy not believe how cheap it was for what we got.
Very luxurious, big and clean room with a complete lounge to relax in!
Spacious and clean bathroom.
Room has everything you need and the staff was amazing.
The restraurant is very romantic.
The food (both dinner and breakfast) is (unlike many other hotels) absolutely delicious.
We stayed in many many hotels and this one sure stands out in the great vakue for money department
Not only will we be back we will defenately recommend this hotel to everyone we know.

What an utter rancid place, I have travelled the world and have experienced better in a two man tent in the middle of a field. On reading the literature "you haven't been spoilt until you have stayed at Miltons" I was expecting a nice hotel after a long drive and busy day. How wrong and deceptive the literature is... spoilt being the opposite of what we experience so here we go:-

1. Could not get in the room, lock had to be D45'd to get in.
2. Met with the delights of a very musty smell to the room
3. Dirty sofa and chair
4. Smelly towels
5. Toothpaste up the wall in the bathroom
6. Smelly shower curtain
7. How they got the water to smell musty was amazing....
8. Plaster off the wall behind the headboard
9. Very artistic patch of mold on the bedroom wall
10. Dirty sheets
11. Lights very unsafe by the side of the bed
12. TV not working
13. Dirty glasses
14. Bed very unstable
15. Wardrobe full of mosquitos

This place is just the pits and should be closed down, the hotel inspector would have a field day. The fact that they have the nerve to charge £90 is even more painful.

The family room are larger than average, but I had a significant allergic reaction to something in the room. I couldn't stay there another night and declined the offer of risking another room.

I agree with another reviewer that the family room was not particularly clean. The manager said that the other rooms were cleaner, as they didn't have kids and pets staying in them. The additional small bedroom is little more than a cupboard and I wouldn't expect anyone to try and sleep in there.

Because I didn't know 48 hours in advance that I would be allergic to the place, I still got charged the full price for the night cancelled. If they had been fully booked, I can understand there being an opportunity cost. Obviously, they care much more about their profits than in the well-being of their customers.

What a rip-off. I strongly recommend you to stay elsewhere.

  • Liked — leaving
  • Disliked — being charged for not staying in a place that made me ill.

We stayed in one of the 'family' cottages, which was described to us as having a double bedroom on a mezzanine level and a small room suitable for a child downstairs. I specifically asked if it was big enough for a travel cot and was assured it was.
When we arrived, we were very disappointed to discover the child's room to be a tiny, musty, windowless room (which I can best describe as a cupboard under the stairs), with no power points. This meant we had to up-end the single bed to even fit our travel cot into the room (at an angle to enable us to close the door), and that we could not plug in our baby monitor.
When we asked if we could borrow an extension lead, we were told it was in use but promised it would be brought to us when they had finished. Despite asking more than once, it never appeared.
We were extremely disappointed in the general standard and cleanliness of the accommodation, particularly the child's 'room', and the attitude of the owners in refusing to help us. I would not advise anyone with a baby or young child to stay here and felt £90 to be very over-priced for a generally unpleasant stay.
And a quick final point - the free wi-fi was password-protected, meaning we could not use it!

Found with no difficulty being next to a busy road but was quiet during the hours of darkness. Stayed in one of the newer rooms at the front. The television in the room only worked on welsh ITV, BBC1 and BBC2 reception and sound so bad as to be unable to watch. Had to mend the shower before we could use it. Also extremely disappointed to be informed that we could not get an evening meal seeing as how we booked the place because it was supposed to have an excellent restaurant. Were told that the kitchen was undergoing refurbishment but could see no sign of this. Continental breakfast mediocre, coffee extremely strong and bitter, all the cups were of assorted sizes, no two seemed to match, some of the packs of marmalade were not fresh having already been opened and partially resealed, and the butter appeared to be old stock.

  • Liked — Convenience to our other event
  • Disliked — Just jaded and lack of sparkle

A great welcome and a very pleasant experience. The room was ideal and served its purpose. Probably the best continental breakfast that I have had in all the years and hundreds of hotels that I have stayed in.
Would definately reccomend.
