We stayed for 3 nights in this beautiful old inn in Autumn 2013. The staff were excellent throughout, welcoming, courteous, helpful; nothing was too much trouble. Our superior double room was spacious, clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished. Breakfast and dinner menus offered a good range of meals for all tastes and all of the food that we chose was superb. The Angel inn is a combination of local pub and small hotel in a quintessential English village with village street, church, post office, thatched and timber framed period houses. A perfect base from which to explore the lovely countryside, towns and coastline of Suffolk.A great place to stay to relax and escape temporarily from the hustle and bustle of the 21st century into an altogether more peaceful and tranquil way of life that had seemingly been lost forever.

Room Tip: We had a superior room at the front of the hotel which overlooked the main village street. Noise was...

We took a works engagement to The Angel Inn Saturday and what a joyous afternoon was to be had. We located ourselves in the public saloon bar and had our every need catered to. I must congratulate the staff on their attention to detail in their service toward us throughout the afternoon. They made the tavern feel like a local. I wouldn't hesitate to return again for a Saturday afternoon. Kind regards, Tuckers Pigeon Hoof

Fabulous accommodation, designed by someone with a great eye for detail. The only little niggles were that the room was fairly dark, there was no chest of drawers just hanging space and small drawers to fit one or two bits of underwear. Also the shower over the bath wasn't great, would have preferred a walk in power shower. Having said that, I would stay there again.
Breakfast was hearty, and the dinner was of very good quality. I had calves liver and bacon and it was divine. The food was a bit pricey and the drinks were very expensive. My mother is infirm and had problems with the steep stairs, and having to climb into a bath to have a shower, so not so good for her.
The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.

Having just returned from a surprise overnight stay at the Angel Inn I must congratulate all the staff involved in keeping the secret from me. The room and food were perfect and could not have wished for a better stay.
Would definitely consider returning.
Room 6 overlooks the courtyard and was very quiet with an extremely comfortable bed.

A revisit for us to the Angel. Why go back? Well we love the atmosphere there and the staff are very friendly.
It's got great appeal as a village pub for the locals yet functions well as a small Hotel.
Our room was comfortable, recently decorated as well.
If you don't like the sterility of the big chain Hotels and want good service this a great place to hang out.

Room Tip: There is some road noise for the rooms at the front but then this a 16c coaching inn so hardly likel...

We love this village and have had meals in others venues in the area.
This was our first visit to The Angel for Sunday lunch - we were left at the bar for over ten mins with no acknowledgement.
Eventually shown to our table by chatty friendly staff, left for another ten minutes before taking drinks order, we ordered lunch at the same time in case we were forgotten again. The star of our Roast Beef lunch were the Yorkshire puddings, unfortunately the two slices of beef were super thin, a few small roast potatoes and one small gratin dish of veg between two, which consisted if two cauliflower florets, approx half of sliced carrot a few green beans and mange tout. We had to ask for horseradish and was told they would "try and find some"!..it arrived as we had almost eaten the meal.

My husband and I, along with several family members and friends, stayed at the Angel Inn for a family wedding. We had a wonderful time! I was blown away by the level of service we experienced - a level I haven't encountered in years. Every employee was friendly, accommodating and patient. Even the owner/manager of the Inn went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and to get us what we needed whether it was a pen or directions. We were a big group for several meals with multiple and frequent requests and never did the servers lose their patience or seem irritable or exasperated. The Inn itself is lovely. We had a very well appointed room. Bathrooms are all new, with nice soaps and shampoos, and the tea/coffee set up was great. My only suggestion is more hooks in the bathroom to hang towels. The food in the pub downstairs was top notch and reasonably priced. There is a lovely seating area outback. I highly recommend this wonderful Inn. You will not be disappointed.
