The hotel is a grouping of rooms and apartments centring on a taverna overlooking a small bay , quiet , beautiful , clean-adjacent to a larger beach of flat sun bleached stones with carribean sea and no sign of litter/debris .Each apartment is very individual , some have cooking facilities . The great joy is the welcome and care that is taken by Apostolis and his family of their guests ,nothing is too much trouble . The rooms are eccentric but clean and comfortable for 50 euro per night we had a sea view balcony and good breakfast . Meals can be taken at any time and whilest not haute cuisine the food is good tasty fresh greek fare . The taverna alongside is a bit sleepier but is the haunt of the boatman hence often has grilled fish and prawns . For a relaxing holiday with great beaches , good if steep walking ,interesting flora and avifauna this would be hard tobeat

Room Tip: We were offered garden or seaview rooms both would have been equally appealing

Just to set things straight, do not come here if all you are after is absolute comfort or luxury, cause the hotel does not shine in this respect. But it is so charming you'll forget its room do not quite match the comfort of the Hilton's.
This hotel is pretty amazing. It is in fact a network of small houses either on the Damouchari bay or in a marvelous, relaxing garden. Each house has 2-4 rooms, and each room has its own style. Some of those in the garden are really beautiful, while those on the sea front are more flat.
Breakfast was quite good though not top-notch for Greece. Owners are very nice and charming people full of stories about the old times. We stayed there in low season and all we could hear were the waves and the birds in the garden - though I guess things get more busy in July/August. Did I mention the Pelion peninsula is among the best places I've seen in Greece? All in all, a unique hotel in a beautiful (though pretty remote) corner of Greece.

It takes some time to get to this lovely spot but it is well worth it. Stunning scenary, great food, lovely people and pebble beaches. A really lovely choice if you'd like to escape the hords of tourists.

We stayed at the lovely Damouchari Hotel mid Sept, and had the most enjoyable holiday. From the moment we arrived, via a breathtaking drive through the mountains (past the ski centre), we were smitten! We were welcomed by Apostole and Evie and given a refreshing drink overlooking the beautiful bay, which we never tired of looking out across every day. Our apartment was extremely comfortable and quirky - with a fabulous view from which we would watch the sun rise from our bedroom window. There is a small pebble beach just steps away from the village, or you can relax with a book and a cool drink in the comfy chairs in the shady garden.

There are many walks in the area which most of the guests we chatted to had enjoyed. Unfortunately I'd hurt my back just before leaving the UK, so was not able to venture far. We drove across the peninsular and spent the day in Horto, which was very quiet and just the place to sit with a coffee in the warm sunshine.

The season was starting to come to an end during our stay - we only had Apostole's taverna left in Damouchari to have our evening meal - but there is the option to drive to other villages if you so wish. But we were happy to stay put, and just walk back to our lovely room, after enjoying a nightcap in the bar.

All in all a relaxing week, spent in the most beautiful part of Greece mainland - oh to be back there!

Maybe it was the location nestled between dramatic mountains and perfect pebble stone beaches. Maybe it was the owner Apostole and the other staff that felt more like friends by the end of our trip. Maybe it was the invitation into the kitchen at the taverna to pick out what we wanted to eat. Maybe it was our view of the Aegean and our need to "get away from it all." Whatever the reason, we fell in love with Damouchari and our stay here. If you want a rustic, quaint, comfortable, and amazing place to stay in the Pelion, this is your place. We were here in the off-season (end of September/beginning of October) so we weren't distracted by tour groups or many other guests. No matter what, you will feel welcomed and find it incredibly hard to leave if you come here.

We stayed here for a week in July and found it to be a lovely place to stay.
We were met by Apostolis in the car park who helped us with our luggage and invited us for a drink to welcome us to the hotel. Evie then showed us around our apartment and looked after us very well for the entire stay.
The individually designed rooms were full of character and furnished with an eclectic mix of antique pieces and nautical memorabilia. Don't expect wardrobes and chests of drawers though- I used a hand carved baby's crib as my dressing table!
The hotel's restaurant served a lovely breakfast and traditional dishes as well as fish and grills with amazing views of the harbour.
The village is small but perfectly formed with everything you need at hand from an internet cafe to a romantic cocktail bar and several good tavernas. The Kastro Taverna and the taverna on the beach were excellent.
