“Truly memorable”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

Had some fine meals during recent short trip to France but this was the ultimate. From the warm welcome by the owner/chef and the excellent service of his charming Russian wife through to the dessert and cafe, this is what a visit to France is really all about. Busy on average week night so do book. If you're anywhere near, don't miss this

“Excellent French Food in the Countryside”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

We had a four course lunch here with our family of four. Our girls (11 &14) can be picky eaters but everyone found a selection to their taste on the menu. The food was quite delicious - though it's defnitely heavy, well seasoned and salted and you may want to go split a few cords of wood afterwards.
Don't forget to visit the Castle of Montpoupon right next door while you're there!
In sum an exquisit culinary experience though I'm not sure I'd like to eat that way every day - nor would l like to spend that kind of $ on food every day.

“Unforgettable dinner”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

It was one of the our best dinners during our three week vacation in France. A reservation is very recommended because it has a tendency to be packed.
Every dish had a special touch and was delicious.

“Very disappointing and over-priced meal”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

We were invited out to lunch here by friends from England, and were very disappointed. The food was over-priced and very disappointing. The smoked salmon, advertised as being home-smoked, was hot-smoked, which was not indicated on the menu, and was almost raw and very unappetising. The cheese was of limited choice presented on a plate with no choice. In this area renowned for its named goat cheeses, only one very ordinary goat's cheese was included. For a 38€ menu at lunchtime one would expect an interesting and varied cheese board. The fish of the day was a rather pallid piece of cod, and all the main dishes chosen were accompanied by the same selection of vegetables. Finally the mille-feuilles patisserie was tough and inedible, and the wine-list was pretentious and over-priced. The service was sullen and grudging, and the temporary access to the restaurant from the car-park was steep and slippery steps with no hand-rail. This may have been an off-day for a restaurant which has I understand been recently listed by Michelin, but we would not recommend it under any circumstances. As we were guests of friends from England we could not complain at the time, which was a pity!
