Our seventh visit to the Old Smiddy, as ever we were looked after wonderfully well, nothing is ever too much trouble for either Julie and Julian. The food is all homemade utterly delicous, our room was extremely comfortable. All in all perfection.

Julie and Julian were so welcoming, we stayed 3 nights during our honeymoon tour of the west coast of Scotland, we were given a bottle of bubbly and freshly baked scones on arrival. We had some fantastic days exploring the area thanks to Julie's local knowledge, nothing was too much trouble. It was like staying with friends. The dinning room has fantastic views, and the guest lounge is lovely. We were sad to leave not just the guest house but the area too. The breakfast were the best ever and Julie's home baking just lovely. We can't wait to return.

Julie and Julian's attention to detail is unsurpassed from the home made scones on arrival to the bath rope and slippers. Nothing is to much trouble even a take away breakfast for our unfortunate very early start when we reluctantly had to leave beautiful wester Ross.

Fantastic garden room very clean and everything thing we needed was provided.
Both the breakfast and the evening meals were of tghe highest standard this B&B is in a class of it's own. thank you for a great two days we will be back SOON.

From the moment we arrived everything in The Old Smiddy was excellent. Julie and Julian gave us a warm welcome with the offer of tea and homemade shortbread ( which was delicious), even although there were tea and coffee making facilities available in our room. This has never happened to me before and I felt so welcomed by it.
We were later treated to Julie's now legendary scones with home made jam and clotted cream which we were able to have in their beautiful garden.
Our room was lovely, extremely comfotable, immacultely clean, light and inviting with lots of extra touches which show just how much thought and consideration this couple have put into their guest house~ crystal galsses, bottled water, lovely toiletries, fluffy bathrobes and slippers: and if this isn't enough, there is a cosy guest lounge to use.
I must also agree with other reviewers as regards the food.
We ate dinner here. It was delicous, fresh, tasty and beautifully cooked by Julie~ where else would you be served home smoked duck and homemade cheesecake? Breakfast the following morning was equally delicious with even more homemade breads, oatcakes and jams as well as the amazing whisky-laced porridge.
Julie also gave us invaluable advice about the local area, and if you have the time, try to visit the beach at Mellon Udrigle.
I am running out of superlatives to descirbe The Old Smiddy. Suffice to say I can't recommend it highly enough. Go and enjoy!

It's a superb B&B. You can tell when the owners enjoy and care about their place and it showed at the Old Smiddy. The attention to detail was much appreciated.

It's very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious as well. Only complaint is the uncomfortable beds.

Laide and the surrounding towns were absolutely lovely.
