Description: You already list this as a hotel. I didn't stay at the hotel so can't rate it but want to provide this information: I wandered into Gimmelwald down the path from Murren and met the owner, David, hiking up the path. He is an attractive Brit and very knowledgeable regarding hiking and other activities in the area. I had a coffee on his terrace and later a couple of pints of beer while chatting with him and others. The view from the terrace is fantastic across the deep Lauterbrunnen valley to the mountains on the other side. I didn't get to try his food as the chef hadn't arrived yet, and I didn't see his rooms in the pension part, but this place is worth a try at least to sit on the terrace for a coffee/beer and enjoy the view. Rick Steves also lists it in his book on Switzerland.

“Local, Fresh, and Delicious”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

We stayed at the Pension, so we ate here for breakfast and dinner most days. Breakfast was a simple but tasty spread of breads, cheeses, meats, yogurt, muesli, and juices. We tried many of the dinner options and they were all wonderfully fresh and delicious. Some are a little pricey (it may just be Switzerland in general is pricey), but each day they have a "Backpacker's Special" which is a hot meal (while we were there it was mostly different stews) at a very reasonable price.

My lunch here was great and the view unsurpassed in the Berner Oberland!! The soup, frites, beer, carrot cake, coffee, wurst - all excellent.

“A Pleasant Surprise.”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

It was too rainy for us fully to enjoy the fantastic view, but we did have a very nice lunch here.

My wife and brother shared a cold cut and cheese plate that was abundant and fresh. My sister-in-law had a chicken sandwich that was fine. I had the "Hiker's Special," a paella that was very nice--a large portion with lots of fresh vegetables and chicken and fish (though I could have done without the mock crab legs). The best thing about it was that it cost only ten francs, a bargain for almost anything to eat in Switzerland. The service was friendly and attentive, though at times the servers got involved in conversations with other customers to our temporary detriment.

“Beer with a view!”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

Didn't eat here, just sat outside and had a beer with this incredible view. What a piece of heaven. Gimmelwald is not to be missed. the best way to see it is to walk down from Murren. There is a paved path between the two towns and from Murren it's a downhill walk of about 45 minutes of the most beautiful scenery. This is postcard stuff that you can't even believe in person.

“Million Dollar View”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

We took the 40 minute hike from Murren on a paved path to little Gimmelwald. The Pension served the freshest food imaginable. My omlette eggs came from the hen wandering around the outside seating area. The views were breathtaking. The setting of this little town is heaven on earth.
