“Fine place to stay”

Great views from balconies in rooms overlooking the lake. wonderful prominade along the lake for walking. Best outdoor seating that we could find in Brienz, though weather did not cooperate during our visit. Very attentive staff - special shout out to LiLi. Nice breakfast. dinner was fine. Rooms unspectacular -except for the view.

Room Tip: Lake view with private bath

Whilst not exactly upscale...we took a room with a private bathroom and shower (yes you have to ask for that otherwise they will assume you are looking to share the facilities..not us)..., the room was clean, had a great view, comfortable bed, kettle and tea (no coffee) in the room. Hair dryer and clean bathroom, so overall quite nice for a night or two when hiking or visiting the nearby attractions. The room also had a massage chair which was a bit odd, but to complete the review I did test it. As a massage chair expert I can definitely say that this was, em, a massage chair! the staff were friendly and polite and the food was pretty good for the area, and average price (20 euros and up). The bad.. Well the hotel reception area badly needs a good scrubbing, the key fobs are filthy, the elevator a bit of an adventure and if you don't like cats stay away from this place.

In summary, get rid of all your expectations and don't spend time in the reception area or playing with the room key and you will love this place!

I stopped there just for one night on a motorcycle trip through Switzerland. The location is very nice and the staff is kind and available. The only thing that was a bot odd is the fact that we had to share the shower and the bathroom.
We know it before hand because it was explained in the description but still we found it odd. Anyway the price was good and the experience overall was not bad, but we only stayed one night.

Right on the lake with no road or railway line to spoil the view. All the south facing rooms have balconies overlooking the lake. The rooms themselves are fairly basic (more two star than three) and ensuites are small but adequate (note that not all rooms have an ensuite). They are, however, clean and the beds are very comfortable. Staff are very friendly and service level is good, as is the food. Best bet is to take the 'half board' option as this works out much better value - you get a four course meal with choices and vegetarian options. Breakfast is a generous buffet with plenty of choice. Hotel has limited parking but is within 5 minutes walk from rail station and right next to the lake ferry stop.
Overall, this is a really good option for a holiday break as long as you book a south facing room with shower.

A good hotel right on the edge of the lake.
The staff were friendly and efficient even though we arrived 2 hours early.
The room was clean but a bit dated, bed was comfortable and bedding excellent. the shower was ok. the only other facilities were a hairdryer and a radio. nice balcony with lake view. Breakfast was average but also ok.
The hotel bar was nice and the restaurant very good with a guest chef and specialities from India.
The hotel is dog friendly which was the main reason we booked. it is also only a 5 minute walk from the train station. there is also a car park either side of the hotel.
