Stayed there for a few days, a lovely hotel, located in an old building in a very beautiful place, clean and comfortable rooms, very responsive and friendly staff. The hotel restaurant has left pleasant memories, the food was great, thanks to the chef Manuel.

We decided to stay at Casa Tödi in Trun for a whole week because it seemed like a good place from which to go to various skiing areas and a number of culturally interesting places (monastery in Disentis, Zumthor chapel in Sumvitg, Therme in Vals, etc.).
The owner of the hotel, Herr Reichenbach Sr., was always helpful, and - in spite of our embarrassing German - very friendly and willing to share his great knowledge of this area. Every morning, he offered free transportation to the Brigels and Obersaxen skiing areas (and pickup later in the afternoon). Herr Reichenbach also arranged for a guided tour of the history and art museum in Trun (otherwise closed during the winter).
Regardless of the way we spent our days, we always looked forward to dinner time, when we were treated to most delicious dishes - innovative combinations of locally traditional cuisine and most refined and sophisticated flavors one would never expect in a small Alpine town. Kudos to the outstanding chef Manuel Reichenbach!
The hotel is on the main road and we had asked for a room facing the other side - as a result, our nights were very quiet, punctuated only by the church bells. Rooms are relatively small but comfortable. Breakfast buffet always included fine multi-grain breads and a variety of fruits. We also appreciated availability of wireless Internet even if it could be accessed only in the vicinity of the reception area.

After reading the previous write-up, we were extremely nervous about booking this hotel! We wanted to ski in Laax-flims and we weren't sure whether it would be ok to stay away from the resort but we had a car so we thought we would be ok- and it was. It was difficult for us to finish work earlier on the Thursday night so we took the last flight out of Heathrow and didn't arrive until past 1am. Luckily, we and send a couple of messages to the hotel and booking agent that this would be the case. When we got there, we found a note typed in English and Mr Reichenbach senior came down and let us in. We were relieved to find that breakfast is served between 7.30am and 10.30/11.00am- how sensible! What a great change from some other places we stayed in where breakfast finished at 8.30am. The room was not luxurious but comfortable and everything worked. Previous descriptions are correct in terms of no lifts so muscle power definately required. The best feature about our stay was undoubtedly the evening meal. We took the half-board option as we didn't want to venture out again after a day on the slopes- what a great decision. Each night we were treated to 4 courses of gastronomic delight- the first night we had, for our first course- carpaccio of fish- it was such an inventive and european take on sushi. The polenta soup on the 2nd night was equally delicious. So if you enjoy good food, this is a great place to stay.

We were recieved by the grumpy owner who would not allow us to have a drink or eat anything in the hotel because we had not booked a table for dinner. when booking the room we were not informed that restaurant booking was required. he refused to help us to find another restaurant in town, but told us to walk down the road and find one of the 2 other restaurants in town. we were forced to go to another hotel reception and they helped us find a restaurant.
Later on I asked him how it was possible that a guest staying in his hotel was not able to eat or drink anything the the "advertised restaurant". He tried to push past me saying he was busy and did not have time to answer me.

We stayed at this hotel in Trun Switzerland because my family emigrated to Trun in the 15th century, and we were making a first time visit to Trun.
The Hotel is 5 centuries old and has much of the original feeling to the building and rooms.
There is no elevator and that could be very difficult for those who have health issues.
When booking our reservation I did not ask and it was not stated in the information I received that no elevator was available.
We were assigned to room 24 on the fourth floor and the walk up was difficult.
However, due to the charm and ambiance of the room we declined to ask for a change.
The room was under the eaves and the post and beam ceiling was vaulted. The bed was a good sized double with wonderful duvets. The handmade armoire was lovely. We also had a small TV and table with two chairs.
The bathroom was great. Newer toilet, sink and shower. The toiletries and towels supplied were a very nice addition.
The room was very quiet.
It seemed we may have been the only overnight guests the two nights we stayed there.
The dining room was large with nicely clothed tables including fresh flowers each night. The locals seemed to gather each evening for their nightcaps and we had our cocktails as well before the dining room opened at 7PM for dinner.
The chef is the son of the hotel owner and he is a wonderful cook. The meal was presented very nicely and the food was delicious. The timing of the meal was nicely paced and we were the only guests eating the first night.
The second night my family had gathered in Trun for the evening meal at Hotel Casa Todi. The owner waited on the group of 9 and we had a price fix meal(38CHF) that was absolutely wonderful, We stayed late and were never rushed.
The room price of 145 CHF included breakfast and it was more than a continental breakfast. Meats, cheeses, cereals, fresh rolls and croissants.
The portions at this restaurant were very generous and the menu was good.
I would recommend this hotel to those who have no infirmities and do not need an elevator. The restaurant and all the rooms were at the second floor and higher.
We parked in the lot adjacent to the hotel and had no problems.
