“Idyllic gem in a beautiful valley”
Reviewed August 15, 2014

We had a wonderful 3 days in this lovely hotel. We were given a very friendly welcome - perhaps this hotel being run by a very capable family is the secret of its success. We had a lovely room with balcony with amazing views over the valley to the mountains beyond. We were on half board and the dinner was excellent - beautifully presented and delicious. There was a very good choice for breakfast which was very well laid out and frequently replenished. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The free travel pass from the hotel for the funiculars and postbus was well used and appreciated. We would love to return and stay a little longer.

Room Tip: South-facing with balcony with views over the valley

We liked this hotel for the welcoming, situation and view, as well as for the accomodation and service. Everything was done in order to please us, the Salamin family are what you can expect from an hotelier background. Certainly, a place to be recommended.

We stayed here for a week and enjoyed every minute. The hotel was comfortable and the Salamins made us so welcome. We were on a half board package which included a delicious 4 course meal every evening. The food was of a very high standard, interesting and using many local products. The walks in the area are fantastic and the flowers and butterflies amazing. There is no need for a car as the pass from the hotel covers all the bus, funicular and cable car services in the valley.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front with a balcony and view.

We stayed here for a second time based on the happy experience of our visit about five years ago in the same hotel. (We first stayed in St Luc on our honeymoon 50 yrs ago but that hotel had since become a young persons holiday home.)
We can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The Salamin family are very friendly and Patrick, the proprietor, is happy to share his encyclopaedic knowledge of the Val d'Anniviers - Chandolin, Zinal, Grimentz, Moiry etc as well as St Luc.
Everything is clean and fresh and many of the rooms face south across the valley with wonderful views up to Mt Cervin (Matterhorn) looking eastwards up the Zinal arm of the valley. (Hint: Watch Mt Cervin et al at sunset.)
Food is important on a holiday and you won't be disappointed for variety. Every day for a week the menu was different - inventive and interesting - in the Table d'hote which was included in our half-board option. There is also a la carte for those who prefer to choose something different but we were very happy letting the chef decide.
Transport is easy with regular connecting Post-bus services, via Vissoie, to other parts of the valley and to Sierre.
Those visiting this Summer (2013) will find that they have free use of most local transport and facilities including cable cars in the whole Val d'Anniviers providing easy access to the higher levels above St Luc, Grimentz and Zinal. Given the current awesome exchange rate of the Swiss currency this is a very valuable perk which made this week of our two week stay in Switzerland significantly less expensive in totall than the previous week in Lauterbrunnen.

Room Tip: book early for best chance of south facing room

We have been staying here for years during the ski holidays. The Beausite is emblematic of the ski station Saint Luc. It's well-constructed, well-maintained, very pleasant without being at all commercial. It meets all of your needs. The rooms are clean, quiet and quaint. Everything works perfectly. The food is exceptional for the price, and the owners are very concerned about their guests. The service impeccable, and the facility to getting to the slopes unmatchable. We won't ever change!

We stayed in this hotel while doing a self-guided backpack trip from Chamonix to Zermatt known as the Hiker’s Haute Route. [Note: St Luc is a little off the Hiker’s Haute Route, but it was snowing in the high country and we needed to be down valley]. The hotel has a modern look inside and out and so it lacked the quaint charm. Not unexpectedly it was well constructed and maintained with carpet throughout. Half the rooms face north, the other half cost 10 CHF more and face south.

Our room was clean, functional, and in excellent condition. There was simple furniture and an old style TV. The bed was top notch with box springs and mattress combination plus a thick comforter. The bathroom was clean and bright and modern. The towels are monogrammed, big, and fluffy. The shower worked well. The wireless internet also worked well.

Front desk staff were friendly with enough English to enable us to get by.

Hotel Le Beausite is a small family run hotel, but the young man who checked me in and waited on me at dinner was so friendly and enthusiastic I assumed he was part of the family. The rooms facing the valley have balconies with spectacular views. Those on the other side have a view of some trees. Being single, you usually get the less desirable rooms (like getting the lousy sofabed in the basement at family gatherings) so I was very, very happy when I was given a room with the spectacular view. The restaurant, terrace and breakfast room share the spectacular view and the four course dinner was very good and reasonably priced too. Nice breakfast buffet with the usual Swiss items: breads, jams, cheese, meat, cereal, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, juice. St Luc is a great find – enough hotels and restaurants to give you some choice, but off the beaten path. With two nights I received a pass that gave me a free ride up the funicular outside St Luc and up the gondola near Zinal as well as local bus transport.
