Spending a night at St John's House was just what I needed to wind down and feel relaxed. The room was fresh, clean and provided the added extras that make you feel at home. The view from my room was amazing. Kath and Doug were welcoming and friendly. Thank you.

One of the best , if not the best , B and Bs we have ever stayed in , it puts many starred hotels to shame.
Beautiful, clean and spacious rooms in an interesting house with great views of the surrounding hills.
The hospitality and advice on local walks and amenities was helpful without being intrusive and the breakfasts are of high quality.
Several good local pubs with real ale and good food in the village and in a 2/3 mile radius , easy access to hill walks and local walks along the River Aire and the Leeds Liverpool canal.

Room Tip: Both rooms are on the second floor and of equal quality.

St John's house provides the most outstanding B&B accomodation that I have experienced. Kath was helpful and accomodating with the initial booking. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Doug who helped us with our cases. We were given fresh milk for our tea and tasty homemade cookies and shortbread on arrival. We booked both rooms. The double is exceptionally spacious and everything is finished to a high standard. We loved the fluffy towels and bathrobes. Lots of little details had been well thought through. This was especially reflected in the wonderful information pack which was of a higher standard than many top hotels. The wifi is free and fast. The family room was perfectly suited for purpose and had a good range of books, puzzles, toys and dvds. Despite very chilly weather, the rooms were lovely and warm with adjustible radiators. The lovely smell of a woodburning stove permeated the house. The views were super and we loved looking over the pretty frosty village on the Sunday morning. There were binoculars in the double room and we enjoyed watching wildlife. Breakfast was very tasty and we loved the homemade bread. I would higly recommend a stay.

This bed and breakfast has everything you could ask for and more. We stayed in the family room with my son 3yrs and daughter 9months. The room is spacious and bright. the kids room is separate which is a great idea. There where toy boxes and lots of children's books and a selection of DVD's. fresh milk and biscuits when we arrived. The room is decorated to high standard and I would love the bathroom in my house! Breakfast is hearty and made from local produce. Kath and Doug are very welcoming and their children even played with our son. Will be going back, very soon I hope. Can't recommend this b&b enough.

Room Tip: both the family room and the double room are of a very high standard and a very good size.

We travel a lot for business & personal recreation so have used loads of hotels, B&B's etc over the last 20 years. Kath & Doug have renovated a wonderful Victorian house and made superb B&B accommodation in the top. Our very spacious room had modern, beautifully-coordinated & calm decor, king-sized bed, good quality furniture (including sofa, tables, wardrobe & chest of drawers & TV). The en-suite was certainly not the usual 'pocket' one but large, with high quality fittings and a super large shower enclosure. Extra large windows in 3 aspects meant wonderful views of the Aire valley & surrounding moors.
Kath & Doug are relaxed, friendly & helpful with all kinds of local advice on hand.
Breakfast caused us to fail! Excellent sausages, bacon, eggs (from the hens in the lower garden), cereals, etc ...just too generous for us.
A wonderful place to stay - don't tell too many others if you want to come back again!
