“Beautiful Cathedral”

Here is Brechin we are very lucky to have such an idyllic cathedral! I was lucky enough to be christened in the cathedral. Would advise tourists to visit it and the round tower.

“Surprising”

This small cathedral is well worth a visit, once you find it, tucked away in the back streets of Brechin. It is steeped in history and very peaceful there.

“quiet and peaceful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

This is the old cathedral of Brechin. It is a well manteined place, peaceful. You don't need to be a believer (I am not) to enjoy the serene atmosphere inside the church. inside you can look at hte beautiful windows, the the stones and the altar, also you can find a good selection of postcards, booklets etc. so that you will discover the cathedral and its surroundings. On the outside there is the graveyard with a lot of old tombs and a gate that leads you into a natural path, short but nice. And then there's the main attraction, the round tower, very nice, you can find only two of these towers in Scotland.

“Brechin Cathedral”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013

This is an ancient site and the present day cathedral has been there since the 10th century. The cathedral is in need of some repairs but is still an excellent church to go and view. There are numerous old Pictish stones within the church that date back to the 11th century and the church is steeped in history, but what isn't when your in Scotland. The stained glass windows although not as old are still very impressive to view. The church also has one of only 2 round towers attached to the side of the church. These round towers are though to have come from the Irish influence and the tower is still in tact and clearly visible as you approach the cathedral. It was a great experience to view this cathedral and I would not hesitate to return.

“Historic cathedral and round tower”

The round tower is impressive and the cathedral grounds are well maintained and peaceful. The interior contains a very informative display of Pictish stones and other items of local interest. The windows are amazing as well. Well worth a visit.
