Having read reviews in the Washington Post, Karen Brown and Trip Advisor, we knew that Villa Raino was a special haven for travelers. We still could not have anticipated the warmth, humor and charm of Aldo, Nina and their family. This beautiful B & B in the countryside near Gangi offers amazing meals featuring local products, and comfortable rooms. When we expressed an interest in the scrumptious local cheeses, Aldo volunteered to lead us up the mountainside to visit a nearby small dairy farm and cheese producer, which led to meeting the staff, sampling fresh cheese and having coffee. This experience exemplified Villa Raino's spirit of helping us enjoy the hospitality and beauty of the region. Our time there was a highlight of our journey through Sicily.

We just had lunch here. The road is very steep, roughly 4 km from the beautiful town of Gangi.
Food is very good. Excellent antipasti, very good primi piatti. We were somewhat disappointed that the main course (secondo piatto) was roasted meat (arrosto misto). It was of excellent quality, but we would have liked to try something "different", more traditional and linked to the culture and traditions of these mountains. Excellent fruit.
We will go back and call ahead to ask them to cook something special for us (they agreed to do so).
Very courteous and fast (however we were the only customers, because it was a rainy day).
25 euros per person

Thanks for your review.
I'm glad you've enjoyed our cooking.
About the main courses, often we cook roasted meat, because meat is a local product, and most of the customers love eating roast. I hope you can come back to visit us and if you let me know a few days before,We will try to cook anything that can get closer to your taste and your curiosity.
Thanks again for your visit and for your kind words about us.
Sorry for my english.
Ciao

We have just returned from Gangi, Sicily. We found Villa Raino and Gangi on the internet and booked our rooms by email.
The hotel is truly authentic, sympathetically restored, keeping the historic look and feel of the house and setting, whilst having all the modern necessities of today. It is set in stunning and peaceful surroundings. Everywhere you turn there is a breathtaking view. Nothing was too much to ask for Aldo, his family or staff. Breakfast alone is enough to keep you going for days! The meals come course after course and are genuine Sicilian fayre.
The pool is in an idyllic spot, I imagine, carefully situated for the amazing views and so that there is no noise nuisance for the hotel rooms. Our balcony over-looked rolling hillside and farmland. If only there wasn't a 3 hour flight + travelling time, we could and would be there for as many weekends as we could afford! My family and I were really sad to leave and will definitely return in the future.
Thank you to Aldo and all who made this holiday so special at Villa Raino.

I've just returned from ten days in Sicily and Casale Villa Raino was definitely one of the highlights. Aldo, the owner, cooks authentic Sicilian food to the highest standards and the hotel is set in a truly idyllic spot just outside Gangi. Gangi is well worth a visit as it's a beautiful town with Greek and Roman origins, and is just up the hill from Aldo's place.

If you are going to Sicily, find a reason to go to Gangi and stay here. As you drive down to the Villa, all you can hear is the bells on the sheep. You'll be given the most generous hospitality: delicious meals that never stop coming, comfortable rooms, and great warmth from the hosts.

Gangi is a nice town and there is plenty to see in the area, walks, castles etc. We spent Christmas here and definitely plan on returning. I've honestly never stayed at a nicer place.

We found this place a little hard to find in the beginning, but with the kind help of a local (who directed us to the driveway!), we found it very easily. The hosts were lovely and encouraged our poor Italian along. Like other reviews, we had true Sicilian fare with dish after dish after dish brought out to us. Very reasonably priced for full/part board. It is a stunning location and sooooo peaceful. Although we were there in winter, it was warm, and oh so green. It has inspired us to consider moving to Sicily. That's how much we enjoyed ourselves. With the hosts help, we met the local mayor and president and were shown the local council/parliament buildings. All really beautiful. A real treat. Worth visiting Sicily just to stay here. Thank you Aldo and family for a great Christmas!
