We spent the weekend here and loved every minute. The awesome staff did a great job from the moment we walked in until the minute we left. Thanks to Marc and the great crew. Food was fantastic, wine was even better :-) lots to do and see. Can't wait to go back!

A recent visit to Killarney, Ontario brought us to visit the totally remodeled Sportsman's Inn and
restaurant. Certainly not like the good olde days in any respect. The inn's history could probably fill a book. All that is left is a few old pictures. The ambiance of the old bar is all gone.
Beautifully redecorated in a modern motif. Not in the Georgian Bay wilderness fashion.

So we (2 couples) decided to have dinner. The appetizer of scallops was $9.95. It consisted of two. Two of us had Georgian Bay white fish and almost at the same time said the same thing. The white fish tastes fishy. We both complained to no avail and with no conciliatory overtures.

The service was impeccable and the scotch was great.

My wife and I stayed at the Inn for a long weekend recently and were very impressed with the wonderful accommodations and service. The resort has been meticulously renovated from top to bottom with great attention to detail. No cheap plastic or aluminum materials. The room was spacious and clean with a nice balcony overlooking the Channel and Marina. The restaurants (fine dining & pub) both served fresh, hot, local fare including a wide selection of wines located in the 1,000+ bottle wine cellar. Rochelle and Kevin were gracious hosts, always checking on our satisfaction. We're not boaters but the facilities for same appeared plentiful, clean and organized. Great for hikers, fishing trips, or simply a romantic getaway. There's even a newly opened Spa for that little extra pampering. The staff were all very friendly and hard working and the musical entertainment, provided daily by Patricia, was fantastic. Located in beautiful Killarney and the North Channel, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this jewel boutique Inn.

We spent three days at the Sportsman.. This trip was book very early in the season ( 4 boat slips on the same dock) two rooms. We confirm the day before so there would be no stress.. We radio in to let them know we were in the channel and it when down hill from there.. We couldn't dock together. ( very unorganized staff ) run by kids with no supervision. The Inn is very Beautiful inside and out the boaters washroom were also lovely but were always dirty, they need staff to be on top of this stuff.. We made reservations of 17 people for dinner on the patio, we sat and watched the staff looking out the window for 30 mi as we tried to flag them down..plus the wife of the owner sat on her big boat drinking instead of paying attention to what is going on... I would like to say thank- you to Michelle she was the only one who asked us if there was anything she could get us... We love Killarney and will be back, and we had a great time, just hope the owner will focus the important things.. this is one beautiful stop on Georgian Bay!!! ( Boat theater is a very good touch)

We pulled into Sportsman's Lodge and Marina in Killarney on our boat (Americans doing the Great Loop), and were pleasantly surprised to find people in tropical garb, live (and good) music on the veranda, and sun. It had a party atmosphere. This place is in the middle of nowhere! The hotel is beautiful, with hanging flowers all along the decks. We were greeted by two boys, who took our lines and tied us to the dock. They did a good job. Unfortunately, it kinda' went downhill from there. Apparently there are new owners who are trying to "make a go of it," as we heard. But they are not working very hard at it. We were moored on the same dock as the owner's large powerboat, which included the owner and (I'm guessing) her family and friends, and they were all drinking, playing cards, chatting. The dock was littered with their shoes, making our access a bit of an obstacle course. They didn't seem to care about their marina customers. We asked a woman on the owner's boat (wearing a "Staff" t-shirt) if there was water on the docks, and she kinda' brushed me off (clearly not wanting to be interrupted) and told me there was not but they had long hoses next to the ihotel and we could pull a hose to our boat. She said to find a dock boy to help, but I was told at the office that he was gone for the day. I pulled the hose down myself. I did laundry, and the laundry room was filthy - it looked like garbage had been accumulating there for awhile. The machines were nice and new, though. The bathrooms are great - toilets, sink and shower all behind your own locked door. Problem was, they were filthy - hair, dirt and crud along the shower, floor, behind the door. The grounds around the office need picking up,and cleaning. Clearly maintenance is not a high priority. We had made reservations in the "fine" dining room when we arrived, but cancelled them as we were disinclined to drop a hundred bucks at a place we didn't respect, and wondered about the cleanliness of the kitchen. We did sit outside and got served by the pub staff, who were hard workers. The food was good, and the same good performer was playing music. There are other marinas in Killarney but this one appears to be the best. I would recommend it, but the owners really need to focus on maintenance because it takes the edge off a potentially great experience.

The accomodations are excellent! The beds are comfortable and facilities and SPA are well maintained. The food and hospitality at the Sportsman Inn is truely number one. Kevin and Rachelle along with the staff are very warm and friendly and always accommodating! That keeps us coming back every year to the great facilities, SPA and different outdoor activities to venture. Canoeing on George Lake in Kilarney Provincial Park was breath taking and amazing this year! Thanks Kevin and Rachelle for the great times and memories.
