“A Historic Canadian Gem”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

First opened in 1891,burnt in1903,rebuilt in 1920 and then completely (from the foundation up) rebuit and restored (finished in 2010) the Sportman's Inn is a great place to stay.Located in Killarney on the channel seperating the North channel from the Georgian Bay, It provides the best in amenities whether you stay in the tastefully decorated rooms or at the marina docks, you will not be disappointed

They have a newly opened spa,a great and unique wine cellar, sportsbar, and great dining. The fish is the specialty and it is fresh caught locally every day. the Resort is run as a family business with the kids joining in as paid empolyees. Kevin and Rachelle McConnell, the owners, are there working hands on each and every day. The lodge is open from mid May to mid Sept.and.they offer canoes,Kayak, and water bycycle rentals if you do not have your own.We have stayed here many times before it was renovated, and the change is outstanding. I would recommend a top floor room with a more private balcony(all view the river) or a dock (newly renovated) on the lodge side.We stayed on our boat but used all the facilities. We were with 9 other boats and I did not hear one negative comment. They will soon renovate the docks across the channel, after 8pm you can use your dingy to make the crossing. They have full fuel and pump out available. This is a must place to stay if you are in the area.

Room Tip: choose a top floor with a more private balcony

The Sportman's Inn I absolutely incredible. The owner Rachelle McConnell works very hard and
puts alot of effort on the fine details. The fine dinning was great, and the service was excellent. We were very fortunety to stay on the docks across the hotel and found the service, incredible. With the drive in theater and the spa there, made it very special. Tigger Bell is available to cross us,at anytime. I did prefer staying their because it was so peaceful. Like we were told, they can't reserve docks places. Everyone was great, love the spa what a great addition to the resort. I would recommend this the anyone, will be back next year.

Room Tip: We had guess stay in the hotel, very beautiful and very clean. All rooms even in the motel has airc...

We were disappointed and surprised on July 10, 2012 when we checked in at the marina. It is advertised as a "full service" marina. We can honestly say it does not approach full serive. We were reserrved for the docks adjacent to the hotel which are fairly new. Instead, we were put at he docks across the river. These are very old docks and have no restroom or shower facilities, no potable water, no grills and limited access to the facilities on the other side since the shuttle only runs from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Fortunately, our boat is self-contained and we checked out earlier than planned (1 night versus 3). 4 other boats checked out early for the same reason. We talked with management and they were in a state of denial stating that the facility ranked with the best of marinas. The hotel has been fully renovated and appears to be well done which may cause the higher rating. Since we did not stay in the hotel, we cannot rate if. If are are boating, however, DO NOT DOCK HERE! In fact, my husband said if he wanted primitive facilities, he would have anchored in one of the beautiful bays.

The Sportman's Inn is absolutely incredible. The renovations and attention to detail are amazing. My husband and I were there for a weekend with another couple. We very much enjoyed the fine dining...I had seafood both nights...cooked to perfection. After dinner we went to the pub and enjoyed the live entertainment. The singer even got my husband up to sing with her!!! Kevin and Rachelle, the hosts, were extremely gracious. They gave us a tour of the wine cellar...magnificent...there is a corner with exposed rock from the Canadian Shield!!! My only complaint is that we were a weekend too early...we had a sneak peak at the newly built spa and gift shop that were opening the next weekend...would have loved to have spent some time there!! The spa will be amazing!! Next to the spa is a "boat in" theatre - I'm sure kids would enjoy that in the evenings. Resort really does accommodate all. While we were there, there were a few families, a group of men who were there for fishing and a stag, and a bunch of ladies on a girls weekend...and many pulling in in their fabulous boats. So whether staying in the beautiful rooms or docking at one of the many slips, this resort has something to keep everyone entertained for the weekend...a well -deserved getaway location.

Room Tip: Room 307 if you can swing it...a corner suite over-looking channel. All rooms over-look channel, bu...

There are times in life when we are blessed with the opportunity to experience and admire our great Canadian Shield, pictured in shades of red and surrounded by magnificent landscapes! This opportunity was possible with our stay at the exceptional facility in Killarney, the "Spotsman’s Inn". This outstanding facility outdone with friendly competent staff, made our long-weekend stay pleasant and peaceful. We look forward to our next visit!

Room Tip: Lake view with exterior balcony. Spa is elegant and relaxing!

The Sportsman's Inn is an oasis at the end of Hwy# 637 . From our first contact for reservations to our departure, every detail was handled professionally and with a natural hospitality warmth that comes from within . The resort is in pristine condition and all staff we met were very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and well prepared for the busy summer season. Our room was well appointed, comfortable, clean and positioned to enjoy a beautiful view of the channel. Dinner was a fabulous introduction to their menu - we wish we could have stayed long enough to try everything. A special thank you to Rachelle for the personal tour of her extraordinary wine cellar. Thank you everyone -

I recently attended a company event at the Sportsman's Inn, what a great time. The rooms were first class views were fantastic. management and staff were very friendly, I felt at home dressed up for a fine meal or relaxing on one of the many large decks. if your looking for a great location for a True North experience you will not be disappointed. I plan on returning soon with my wife.
