What an amazing experience! We stayed and loved the views, the staff, and the food! mmm the best food I have had in quite some time. The dinner was wonderful, it was my birthday and they prepared a celebration chocolate cake for me. The breakfast was superb, with freshly beaked bread included. Very reasonable price too. I would love to be back sometime soon. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: All rooms have a great view of Lucerne. Do recommend getting up early as early as required to enjoy the sunrise. We did it at 4am. Amazing views!

Absolutely amazing! One of a kind experience!
Let's make this clear - You do not go there to be papmered by their staff (They were excellent, by the way) , searching for TV movies, etc... Where else will you be able to get such a view?
The views are unforgettable, the sunset, the clouds (which are below you!). AND the hotel is of great quality. Recently renovated, tastefully done. I have never seen triple glazing windows before :)
We amended our holiday so we can stay there, as it was fully booked the previouss night. Our girls learned that Queen Victoria visited the mountain and many other famous people. We are so glad we did it too!

First of all the positives. Views are incredible, rooms are good sized, service and hospitality are very swiss--friendly and efficient. The included set-price dinner was surprisingly good, with quality and quantity higher than expected given relatively low (by swiss standards) price. Service at dinner was a little bit spotty as nearly everyone arrives at the same time, so it's not seamless, but certainly acceptable. The snack bar in the observatory (right near the gift shop) had great sandwiches and deserts at really low prices.

There are a couple of downsides, however, particularly if traveling with kids. First, there's nothing to do when it rains--nothing. No views to see, and most of the sports parks (one cable car ride down from the hotel they have a summer tobaggon and a climbing park which are fantastic) close when it rains hard. The hotel doesn't even offer pay-per-view movies, which would be nice for the kids given the absence of other diversions (they do have several cartoon channels in German). Other problem with bringing kids is that the set price meal is for adults and it's served in the most expensive restaurant in the hotel--so when you order off the kid's menu at that restaurant the cost isn't trivial. For couples looking for a get away, neither of these are a problem, but if you're going with kids, make sure you double check the weather report.

We had a good time and the wife and i will definitely be going back but next time we take the kids to the Pilatus sports park, we'll either make it a day trip or stay in Luzern.

The Pilatus Kulm is a one-off experience. The rooms were beautiful! Very modern and tasteful with fabulous bathrooms. They have been renovated since some of the previous reviews. As already stated by others, being up there watching the sun set , after a lovely meal is memorable. We did not tell our teenage children where we were staying until the hotel dramatically came into view from the train. They loved the whole experience.
The major fear is the weather. We were lucky and had a good sunset with a mountain goat arriving as if on cue! But we had no sunrise due to mist. It would have been very sad not to have seen the view due to poor weather although the hotel is excellent in itself.

The wonderful journey up on the cog railway, the comfort of the room, the welcome drink, the super meal and the wonderful views - all were excellent. An added bonus was the quiet after the last day visitors went down. After dinner we had the luxury of the viewing platform to ourselves.
The staff were efficient and friendly and equally happy to converse in French, English or German.
