“''Very good and spectacular views''”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

For all those friendly and helpful staffs, this hotel has become my first choice in kriens (Luzern). Rooms are very clean and big. Access to internet via WiFi is free, car park for free as well. has an excellent restaurant with its friendly staffs. Very clean and enjoy the spectacular view. And trust me.... those ''Nespresso machine'' in the rooms, can make this place the first choice of Mr. George Clooney. love this place and I will always comeback. Thanks.

We returned this year - our family took 3 rooms this time - and enjoyed the service, food and views. The rooms are basic and the building lacks an elevator. It is clean, quiet and the location cannot be beaten. Breakfast is excellent and plentiful. Free parking and wifi. The restaurant has great views and serves hearty food at fair prices. Very personable service by all staff. We can recommend hotel and restaurant.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor are best for the views. Corner rooms have a balcony. We have not tried r...

We stayed here for 1 night each time, as stop over on our summer holiday to Tuscany, Italy. Especially with the steady surge of the Swiss Franc versus the Euro, Switserland has become expensive and this hotel is not really an expection.
Accepting higher than EU prices, it's a lovely place though; the location is superb, on a hill top overlooking the lake, Luzern. You're really on the doorstep of the Alps, great! When you're lucky, you can even see & hear the cows with their trademark bells. The hotel itself is clean and with comfortable rooms; no extremely large rooms, but adequately spaced and bathroom is fine, not opulent. Original, modern room decoration, not the traditional landscape paintings you see often in (Alpine) hotels. The restaurant serves decent, local produce. Besides all this, what really makes me want to return (as we have done) is the staff; they're superfriendly and helpful to our young family. Without trouble, they e.g. brought our plates etc to our room to finish our diner, when the kids became too tired to stay in the restaurant. The philosophy of the hotel is further noble; to support long-time unemployed back into the work place. A tip for families with small kids; when you go up the hill to the end station of the gondola, there is a nice playground.

Room Tip: for families, please consider the family room; it has two bedrooms with a separate bathroom in the m...

We stayed here a week, and had the greatest experience. This is a perfect place for families.

We were in two rooms with two bathrooms, for a really reasonable price. Lucerne is so expensive, this was one of the best rates in the area. Very clean and modern rooms. The hotel could easily be reached by car or taxi (a cab took our big suitcases to the train station for $20, tip included). It was easy to get into Lucerne by a beautiful, easy, pastoral walk to a bus at Oberguetsch that goes to the train station. There are benches part-way overlooking the valley. We stopped to sit and eat a picnic lunch that we got at the organic store (one bus stop before the train station), watched the sunset over the lake, with alphorn music drifting up the valley and Mount Pilatus and the castle Schauensee on the right. Breathtaking. Or take the 100-year-old funicular that is a short walk from the hotel down the hill and take a short bus ride into the city. It was all very easy and we would have missed so much if we had stayed in a tourist hotel in the city. There was even a farm stand right by the hotel with delicious fresh cherries every day for a few francs, and some kind of homemade dried sausage like landjaeger.

This hotel has a little mini-golf! It's not as fancy as American mini-golf, but fun and a nice break for the kids. There is a place nearby where you can take horses, but I don't ride so I don't know much about it except that there were families with kids riding by sometimes.

The restaurant was decent for breakfast, and surprisingly good for dinner. The setting is lovely for indoor or outdoor dining. Again, you can't beat the view. There is a nearby hotel open the evening this restaurant is closed, with great food, too.

First of all, if you want to be in the middle of the city, this is not the place. Lucerne has gotten so busy and noisy for me, and so expensive, so I was glad to find such an easy-to-reach place that felt like it was in the country. If you want an amazing place outside the fray, with views in every direction, and QUIET, beautiful sunsets, this is the place. I kept pinching myself that we had found it. We so enjoyed our stay.

I was a little concerned about it being out of the way because of reading previous reviews, but it was not hard at all. Maybe I have a different perspective because we loved having such a gorgeous walk to our hotel (maybe 10 or 15 minutes from the bus stop).

Staff could seem a little cold, but they were professional and helpful. Yes, they weren't chatty, but at times, they really bent over backwards to accommodate us. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. (I have to admit, we were there in June/July 2011, though I cannot go back that far on the drop down menu -- but didn't get around to posting the review then and I would feel guilty if I didn't do that! It was such a lovely, memorable stay. We have relatives nearby who told us it was a good place that had been recently renovated, or we would not have known to stay there from the limited reviews.)

Room Tip: We had a suite with two rooms on either end and two bathrooms in the middle. We could see how this...

We stayed here one night mainly based on Trip Advisors rating and reviews. Believe me, you will be so pleased to experience the smaller but clean rooms, a wonderful restaurant with a superb staff and the dining room's vistas overlooking Lucern and the lakes. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Every room has a view which is amazing.

We stayed here for 2 nights and booked a room with a big balcony. This hotel is located on top of a hill and therefore you have a spectacular view over this city of Luzern and the Vierwaldstättersee. Room was a bit small but clean and modern decorated. The staff of the hotel was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was superb. We would highly recommend this hotel.
