This is the southern most tip of the island of Mauritius. The waves and the rocks there create an unique combination. Few hours drive from Port Louis, definitely worth going. Pack your food before you go, as the food available there is costly and not up to the mark.

The waves have carved out unique features in the rock, visible from the grassed lookout area.

Be wary of the price of soft-serve ice-cream from the mobile van parked nearby - Rs250 for a single cone is a rip-off price for tourists. They say "250" but make it sound like "50" until you come to pay...- ask them to show you the prices which are usually not on display.

We were staying on the western coast of Mauritius, and decided to do a day trip of visiting central and south western attractions of Mauritius. Gris Gris was our last stop of the trip and we tried to make it to Gris Gris to catch the sunset. The sunset was not much of a sight, since the sun set in the mountains behind us. But the view at Gris Gris was amazing! It felt like standing at the edge of the world, with winds blowing from all directions (probably similar to the experience at the Cape of Good Hope). The rugged cliffs and the waves pounding on them were mesmerizing.

Though it looked extremely dangerous, we plucked up the courage to climb down the cliffs and were rewarded with a view of a secret cove where the waves brought in various fauna, including the infamous sea urchins, and beautiful fishes.

The Gris Gris lookout area was like a small picnic spot, with benches to view the view (!), toilets, and even a moving ice-cream truck!

Do visit Gris Gris for its rugged beauty and beautiful views.

Tip: Wear sensible clothing when visiting Gris Gris, like, shorts, a tshirt, a light jacket and shoes/hiking sandals.
