I recently spent a 2 night stay at Casa Bella Rita, I was going to spend a week long retreat in the Osa Pennisula and was looking for a short term stay in San Jose prior to my retreat commencing.
The stay at Casa Bella Rita exceeded my expectations. The owners of the property, Steve and Rita are lovely, they made me feel like family, literally. As a woman traveling alone to a foreign place, it can't sometimes be daunting, but I didn't have any worries staying here.
Steve was there to pick me up at the airport from my flight even though there was a delay and it arrived in the middle of the night (one airport transfer is included in the fee) and when it was time to depart for the Osa Pennisula, Rita and Steve organized my transport with their personal driver to get back to the airport.
The property is stunning, it is a large open concept mansion with a back patio that over looks the top of some mountains and a valley below. The rooms are all very spacious and immaculate. If you are an animal lover like myself, Rita and Steve have 3 sweet dogs that will keep you company during your stay. Breakfast is also included and Steve will typically cook up a beautiful breakfast of your choice as well that you can enjoy outside on the veranda. Steve is a great chef and will cook dinners upon special request (which I was sad to miss due to my flight delay) and dinners can be enjoyed with other guests staying at the B&B for solo travelers. Steve and Rita were nice enough to organize delivery of other meals where required, as the B&B is not located in walking distance of many restaurants for travelers that do not have a car rental.
The highlight of my stay was visiting the Toucan Rescue Ranch to see the sloths (which I would also highly recommend). It is run by a friend of Rita's, she organized the tour for me prior to my arrival and also organized transport for me to get there.
I would definitely stay with Rita and Steve again and would recommend Casa Bella Rita to anyone that is looking for a couple of days of quiet down time in San Jose away from the hectic city.More
