Just came back from a nine day discovery tour of Costa Rica customized by Go Tours. From my first correspondence to a personal farewell at the airport, it was perfect in every aspect. Go tours is a small operation that knows exactly what they are doing. They are well organized and detail oriented.
Our friendly and knowledgeable guide was Flavio. He and Wali (driver extraordinaire) are great ambassadors to their country. If you go, make sure to bring a bag of wasabi peas for Flavio, he will trade you a bag of cassava chips for them.
My family is well travelled and we all agree this ranks tops as one of the best trips to date. It's nice to know somebody is looking after you you in a strange country, Go Travel is THAT somebody.

We used Go Tours to coordinate our first trip to Costa Rica. Vladimir and Flavio were great tour guides. Vladimir is truly amazing he is patient, articulate and very knowledgeable about his country - flora, fauna , country facts etc. In five days we covered a lot of ground - Poas Volcano, Tirimba Forest, Chocolate tour, Arenal volcano, Zip lining, ATV rides etc. We had requested vegetarian food for the duration of our trip and both Vladamir & Flavio went out of his way to make sure our request was implemented no matter how small the place was. We were pretty sure our Casada always had vegetarian food in it. Flavio took us to a local bakery and introduced us to Costa Rican homemade cheese and cookies. Vladamir & Flavio truly believed in making our trip enjoyable and memorable. I would definitely use them again for my future trips to Costa Rica and would recommend them to family & friends.

PURA VIDA!

Dear Vikram B,
We really appreciate the opportunity and trust you gave us to arrange your first trip to Costa Rica and we are grateful that everything went as planned.
Vladimir and Flavio are indeed excellent tour guides, who are always willing to help and make sure the customer’s requests are covered, just like the vegetarian food provided during your trip.
I’m glad to hear that you and your companions had the chance to explore some of the beautiful places and activities Costa Rica has to offer, such as the Poas Volcano tour, the Tirimbina Rainforest Center and its unique chocolate tour, the amazing Arenal Volcano area, as well as the adventurous zip lining tour and ATV rides.
Thank you very much for recommending our services to family and friends, that help us a lot. Please let us know the next time you plan on visiting us, and we will be more than glad to help you with the planning of another memorable vacation in Costa Rica.
Pura Vida!

My husband and I planned this trip months ago in order to get away and relax from our very hectic 2012. While Go Tours offers many adventure tours we wanted to just get out and see Costa Rica but take it easy with our kids (6 &9 years old). They more than met our expectations.

While our trip was not scheduled to take place until Dec 29th -Jan 5th. Vladimir had already started helping us plan tours and advising and suggesting as early as April when we first contacted him. His guidance and help to make sure we were not over doing it ensured we had a relaxing trip with out needing to take a vacation after our vacation. His prompt responses and communications via email was wonderful.

We booked three tours with them

1) The Zapote Festival which only runs during the last week or two of the year. It's like a carnival or state fair and they have bullfighting. It was so much fun. They televise it here so if your here for the week you will see it on TV. It is a must see in person. We highly recommend it. Vladimir was our guide and was excellent at explaining the festivities and craziness of why grown men pay to be running around the ring with these bulls chasing them. The kids and us had a blast - THANK YOU sooooo much Vladimir for including this. We know this was not your typical tour but we really appreciated you going out of your way to do this for us You Are The Best!

2) Poas Volcano, La Paz Waterfall Garden & Doka Coffee Tour- We were blessed with wonderful weather for this tour and had a breathtaking view of the volcano. We tried to introduce our guide to Geocaching but weren't successful here. The waterfall and garden are beautiful and the kids loved it as well. Especially when they got to hold the toucan ( lunch there it wonderful). We made little stops along the way. We can't say enough about our guide Flavio. He was AMAZING. We went to the coffee tour and the guide there (Cindy) was great and knowledgable. She has worked there for several years so she knows her stuff. It was really neat to see where our morning cup of coffee is born.

3) Arenal Volcano , La Fortuna Waterfall & Tabacon Hot Springs.- We did this tour the day before we flew out. It was a great way to end our trip. Awesome can't even describe it. It is a must do for anyone coming here. It was a three hr drive from our hotel but Flavio made the time fly with several stops along the way. We even managed to finally pull off some geocaching to show him and his wonderful wife how it's done since we failed the first day (we were so glad she was able to join us again)

We could go on and on about this tour company. Their service it unbelievable, their prices are great and after spending a few days with them you feel like family if not good friends!

PS: in planning our trip we did a lot of researching in regards to tipping practices here. Always remember TIPS means " To Insure Proper (Prompt) Service"It is always best to error on the side caution. We took another public tour as well and noticed this is not always practiced. Guides and waiters work hard for us. It's only fair that we recognize that.

Thank you to Vladimir, Flavio, Roberto and Walli who so finely planned and executed our 11-day trip around Costa Rica over the Christmas holidays. Our family of four (kids are 11 and 14 years old) arrived to be greeted by Flavio and Walli at the San Jose airport, and that was just the start of a well executed plan from Sarapiqui to La Fortuna (Arenal area), Monteverde and Manuel Antonio ... with a bonus bullfight in San Jose the afternoon before our return home.

So first, a few comments on Go Tours. Vlad really knows the country. For the months prior to our trip, I only knew Vlad. He was incredibly responsive on email, and offered a US phone number, which made calling inexpensive. We discussed what we wanted to do, including the type of travelers we were, and Vlad totally customized the itinerary for us. He gave us some choices, and made some recommendations. In retrospect, we should have listened to him more ... the trip to Sarapiqui, for example, was barely mentioned in guide-books, but was, in my opinion, one of the most amazing rainforest experiences one could ever have. But he was easy to work with, accommodated our requests, and figured out how to squeeze in an unbelievable amount of activity into a short period of time.

Upon arrival, Flavio and Vlad guided us together for a few days, and then during our trip, we saw them both at different times. These guys totally know Costa Rica ... history, facts, interesting info that engaged the kids. Vlad brought local fruit with us during our first day, and we spent time guessing (and tasting) in the car! A great way to get the kids (and adults) excited about our destinations. Roberto and Walli are two of the drivers we had. They were prompt, drove safely, and kept their vans in great condition. Walli's van, especially, felt like it was brand new every day.

With respect to specific activities, we found the walks in the Sarapiqui rainforest to be among the best. Zip-lining, rafting and the Caño Negro wildlife preserve were excellent. We tried canyoning, but the number of falls (4) was a bit quick. Vlad told me that two falls had been damaged with mud-slides in a recent rain storm, so my advice would be to skip it or find a larger place to rappel until the area Vlad selected is fixed up. We chose an ATV tour in Manuel Antonio that was good. My kids loved it. I thought it wasn't off-road enough.

Our only regret was Monteverde. Guide books rave about the area. While we ate one of our best meals there (Chimera near the Haleconia Hotel), the cloud forest was disappointing after Sarapiqui. We saw much less wildlife, and the forest itself wasn't as impressive as Sarapiqui. That said, the night walk in Monteverde was excellent.

My take on Costa Rica, overall, is that its a great place to do some fun activities in areas with beautiful, lush green forests and warm inviting beaches. In some ways, Costa Rica is like a giant theme park! If I chose to visit again, I will plan two things differently:

1 - I'll do more physically exerting activities. We had many great adventures, but few of them got my heart racing.

2 - I'll leave the planning entirely to Vlad and trust his judgement fully. We pushed him to visit certain places because its what we read about. The best parts of the trip were those that Vlad pushed us to do. I should listen more!

If you're planning an adventure-trip to Costa Rica, call Vlad and leave it to him. Tell him about yourself and your family. Ensure you see eye-to-eye on the types of things you like and dislike. From there, just say "yes" and you'll be in good hands.

My husband and I did a customized 10-day Rainforest & Wildlife package (in reverse order) with GO! Tours. Andrey was the one who arranged the trip. His quick, detailed and to-the-point responses really impressed me early on.

Flavio/Roberto came to the airport to pick us up on day 1.
Andrey/Wali provided transfer from San Jose to Manuel Antonio on day 2.
Flavio/Roberto provided transfer from Manuel Antonio to Arenal on day 4.
A 3rd party tour guide (arranged by Andrey) did the transfer from Arenal to Sarapiqui on day 6.
Sarapiqui Rainforest Lodge provided transfer to Guapiles on day 7, where all people going to the same lodge in Tortuguero gathered there, and were transferred to Tortuguero by bus + boat arranged by the lodge.
The Tortuguero lodge also provided transfer back to San Jose on day 9.
Roberto drove us to the airport on day 10.

Even though almost all service we had in Costa Rica were good, the service provided by GO! Tours was clearly above everybody else. They make you feel like they are your friends. They try to maximize your Costa Rica experience by making many stops along the transfer: showing you the crocodiles under the bridge, searching the scarlet macaws where they normally hangout, providing local fruit and snack for you to try, taking you to restaurant where the locals eat, showing you local sweet, cheese, fruit stand along the road ...... There were too many extras they did to list them all here.

We saw and experienced so much in Costa Rica in just 10 days because of them. I would highly recommend them to anyone who may ever be interested in visiting Costa Rica.
