“Great Stopover”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Like some other reviewers we stayed here for one night before heading off to Cocos Island the next day. The hotel itself was very nice and we had a great room and a very comfortable bed!

We arrived late so didn't get to try the hotel restaurant, but as we were leaving we noticed an abundance of restaurants on the main road so you definitely would not go hungry. I did feel that there was a bit of a strange combination of foods on the breakfast buffet, but probably not dissimilar to other hotels in this area.

We didn't get to see any of the immediate surrounding area and I'm not sure how good the location would be as a base to explore San Jose/Costa Rica (as I simply do not know) but it was fairly close to the airport and made a great stopover hotel and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for kind words, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us.
As you mention on your review, Hotel Indigo is located in a vibrant neighborhood with several restaurants, shopping malls all within walking distance. This area is very convenient for travelers even for leisure or business, close to the airport, easy access to downtown, and short distance to important corporate complexes.

Regarding breakfast, we would like to tell you a little of our customs, for us, Costa Ricans, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It is very common to have rice and beans, combination named “gallo pinto”, that is served along with fried plantain, sour cream, scramble eggs and tortilla made of cornmeal. We are happy to keep up this tradition and offer it to our guests. Since we have visitors from many other countries, we try to please different tastes and have a variety of choices at that time.

It would be our pleasure to have you here again and hope you have the opportunity to enjoy a typical breakfast at our hotel.

Our best regards,

I lived here from aug to oct for a work trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Spanish helps but most of them know English really well. The only thing gripe I could have was the Internet speeds could have been better. Streaming Netflix was tough during certain busy hours. The food here is excellent though so it was ok. Fruit was always fresh and the dinners didn't get old for me.

Dear Jimi3,

Thank you very much for your kind comments. It has been a pleasure to have you staying with us and we hope we can see you again soon.
Customer Service for us is one of our hallmarks and we are glad you found our staff friendly and helpful.
We appreciate your feedback on the Internet speed, this is one of the most important services that we concern to offer with excellence to our guests and we will take action on this.
It is great for us to hear from someone that has been staying with us for so long that likes to dine with us frequently, it certainly says we are doing well with our restaurant and we will work to keep it this way and better.

Best regards,

I stayed at this hotel for one night as a stopover point enroute to a Coco's Island SCUBA diving liveaboard. This hotel is one of the two pick up locations for the chater.

The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport. Taxi fare was 12,000 colones, maybe $20-$25 USD. The security in the hotel was great. You need to use your room key to make the elevator work from the lobby. And the key is pre-programmed so once you slide it, it knows what floor to bring you to. In the evenings an armed gaurd was posted outside of the hotel. Im not sure why this was needed as the neighborhood looked okay, but better safe then sorry. The rooms were very clean and modern looking. The room had a nice flat screen TV with satellite containg both english and spanish programming. My only comment would be the shower drain which was slightly blocked. By the end of the shower we were in ankle deep water.

I cant comment on the breakfast as I didn't pay for it. But it seemed a little pricey to me. I think it was $20 USD per person. What I did instead was walk across the street to the supermarket and buy fresh fruit, juice, snacks and empanada's for the upcoming few days. Also in the immediate area was a Scotia Bank, and Applebee's and various other restaurants and services.

Overall, I had no complaints and would reccomend this hotel.

This hotel met and exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean as a whistle and the hotel staff could not have been nicer The hotel is off the beaten path but the bus line is a block away and can take you to downtown san jose in 30 minutes or less. We ate in the restaurant
and had room service and both were very good on a hotel scale. The nearby
restaurants were very good and the shopping and banking were close by. If I were to visit San jose this would be the place. If you have accessibility issues don't fret the rooms are spacious and the bath is ample to handle a wheelchair with a shower chair.

this review is a bit late, and i really thought long and hard about writing a review.

basically, this hotel is staffed by crooks that think they can walk into your room when they think you are not there. and when the surprisingly find you in the room make up some bs excuse for opening your door when not invited.

when you travel, you should feel safe that no one is going to barge into your room.

the staff is rude and pretentious. the decor is nice, but to me, it is a facade for a terribly run hotel.

The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport. Taxi fare was 9.000 colones, which is about 18 or 20 US dollar. Friendly staff at the reception.

Very modern, clean and beautiful room with a very large bed.
Excellent bathroom with great shower. Also provided is a coffeemaker.

Hotel is situated next to a business center - not in the city center -
with several restaurants and across the street is a large supermarket. As far as I can tell not much to do in the area.

So for a night before or after a long flight an excellent hotel.
