We stayed one night at this quaint hotel. Not only did their staff make arrangements for us to be picked up at the airport by a driver due to the lateness of our arrival, they also arranged for the rental car delivery the next morning. Arturo and his staff even maintained contact with the airlines to ensure that our lost luggage found its way to the hotel in time for our departure to Manuel Antonio. We had dinner on site prepared by their chef which consisted of sushi and a fabulous dessert. Our room was both spacious and clean.

We arrived in San Jose on Oct. 29th and stayed in Hotel Luisiana in Santa Ana for 2 nights. We were supposed to stay in another hotel in San Jose on November 6th. We were so impressed with the cleanliness and staff friendliness that we decided to cancel our previous reservations from another hotel and made another reservations with this hotel instead. The staff were all very friendly. The rooms were very clean and designed very modern. The food was great as well. On our last day, we had to leave a little early for the airport and the kitchen staff has not arrived yet. The reception staff decided to make our breakfast. We would've waited for the kitchen to open but he went ahead and did it without us asking. We very much appreciated that. Many many thanks to all the staff for making us feel very welcomed. We would stay here again and would recommend it to all our friends that visits Costa Rica.

We had been to Costa Rica before and knowing how we would feel after the long flight wanted somewhere comfortable but inexpensive just to relax and switch ourselves on to the new time zone before moving on.
Plus points first - the hotel is a small 'boutique' property, spotlessly clean and simple but stylish. For the cost, very good value for money. We didn't want to pay a high price at the beginning of our trip as we knew that for the first couple of days of a 3 month trip a fancy hotel would probably be a waste of money.
The hotel staff, like the hotel, is small but very enthusiastic and very helpful
The room was modern and well maintained.
The wifi internet worked well and is free of charge
The negative points of the Luisiana were that for anyone expecting to be out and about in San Jose or out at other restaurants the location is a bit remote. The hotel has its own restaurant, which is Italian, and fine for one night, (very small quiet but good pasta) other wise you would need to drive or get a taxi to eat.
If you do decide to book ask for a room with an outside space - most have a table and a couple of chairs out on a patio or balcony where you get some fresh air but the top rooms dont so there is nowhere to sit outside at all - that did matter to us and unfortunately we did get one of those rooms.
Finally, the view from our room was quite dismal, some old buildings and scrubland.
If you just need a simple place to get your head down while you plan the rest of your trip this is a fine place and if you dont expect more than that you wont be disappointed.

Well we arrive around 430pm after a long ride from playa del coco. This was our last night and I wanted some place close to the airport. It was about 15- 20mins to the airport. Getting to the hotel was harder than getting out as we hit rush hour traffic in santa ana. The hotel is located in a nieghborhood. I really didn't like the location. When we arrived there were workers working on the sewage. There was no mention of any problems when we checked in. Our rooms were clean, but not all the rooms look like the website. My kids room wasn't as nice and thier beds were hard. We had the Jacuzzi room, which it is not a jacuzzi tub, just a small deep tile tub no jets. I decided to take a bath and when I let the drain out the toilet started bubbling and was slow flushing. We went to dinner at the restaurant it was nice and the food was average, but the dessert was a joke. The only thing they had to offer was icecream. So my kids ordered the icecream. They brought out these cups of icecream the kind you buy in a bag of about 20 with the chocolate and vanilla swirl. You can also get it in strawberry. It's about 25 cents a cup/ with delmonte canned fruit spinkled around it and chocolate syrup drizzled on it. I couldn't believe it. This nice looking restaurant servering cheap icecream. We get back to our room and the toilets are not flushing. So the whole night and the next morning no toilets. I went to the office and they acted like they didn't no the whole hotel had a problem. When I told him we were unable to flush the whole night all I got was sorry. They had people there working on it again in the morning and the owner was outside and never once said anything to us. The parking lot was overflowing of toilet paper and raw sewage. Just what you want to see before breakfast. When checking out we ask if there was any compensation for are inconvience the manager gave us a free bottle of wine. I wasn't looking for a free night, as I know it wasn't thier fault, but they could have offered someting without us having to ask and the owner could have said something to his guest. The rooms were clean and for the value ok, but I didn't like the location and the view of the parking lot and a old beat up fence. I would not stay here again as there are much nicer places with the same value. They also could have given us the option to go somewhere else, since they knew they had a problem before we checked in.

We stayed here on our first AND last night in Costa Rica. Room 6 is very comfortable with a king sized bed, flat screen TV, and big jacuzzi tub. The staff is very friendly and made us feel genuinely welcome. Dinner is a choice of pasta dishes--all delicious and made with passion by the owner/chef. Breakfast is overwhelming (more food than the average person needs), but a great way to start the day nonetheless. We would recommend this is a great place to stay on your way to the airport; it's a good place to relax on your last night and is an easy trip into San Jose.
