We are staying here our last night of our honeymoon before we fly out of SJO in the morning. The rooms and bathrooms are very, very nice. One of the best we have stayed in during the 3 weeks in Costa Rica. Definitely the best for the value! They have a mac in the room that I am writing this on now. Comfortable beds and sheets. A porch with nice furniture and a flat screen with cable. They also have a mini fridge and a gated and secured property. If we had known, we would have planned this place in to our trip and taken the rental car to visit various day trips and come back to this place to stay. Very comfortable. The staff is friendly as well. If you have a rental car and will be in the SJO area, you should definitely stay here. There are lots of cute restaurants in the near by area.

Room Tip: The basic room is very nice and has a king and a twin. If you have more people and are staying a whi...

We were very impressed with the convenience and service at this gem of a boutique hotel. Very clean, excellent service and even restaurant on site. Location was great since it was easy to find coming from the airport and all the important amenities are close by. Secure parking was a bonus too. We will tell our friends and return again when in San Jose.

I chose this hotel due to its affordable price & location, I did not want to stay at a downtown hotel. You will not find this hotel on your own without GPS, this hotel is located on a hill in a residential neighborhood right across from homes. You have to go through two security gates to get into hotel, you press the button on outside intercom to talk to front desk clerk to gain access. Downtown San Jose is 20 minutes away & the hotel vehicle charges $20.00 PER person one way or they will call taxi for you which costs around $15.00 for full taxi. There is an excellent seafood restaurant called Product in the neighborhood as well as grocery, ATM,gas station 10 minutes walking distance. As is the norm in Costa Rica all hotel staff are extremely nice & helpful & I went to lobby numerous times to speak to the clerks. They will set you up with up to 10 different tours such as white water rafting etc. Some tours pick you up at hotel, others you have to go to San Jose & meet tour bus at a hotel. Most tours are $105.00 per person. The first two floors are the more expensive rooms with the outside veranda, the top floor rooms are smaller & cheaper, my room was spacious & clean with apple desktop, laminate floors & small fridge. The only thing I noticed is that the small hotel restaurant is quite expensive & is not open for lunch. Hot breakfast is $12.00 & dinner plates such as pasta is around $20.00 & steak around $28.00. Now I am not a cheap person, I tip very well including housekeeping whenI leave but this price is expensive. Management needs to lower the price to say $12.00 pasta & $20.00 steak & they will get more business. If you get a rental car at Europcar expect to pay $15.00 day for damage waiver, they will not rent to you without it. Overall this hotel & staff is an excellent choice & I will stay here again.

I meant to review this hotel a long time ago, but it was just a stopover-- both ways on our trip to Costa Rica in february, 2011. We got in around midnight on the way in. After three flights, that glass of wine on the wrap around deck overlooking the city, warm breeze-- heaven.
In the morning, they bent over backwards to organize an early morning taxi (we had to leave first thing in the morning). They got up early to make us breakfast.

` On the way back (we stayed on the carribean side), we arrived late afternoon , but had to be up by 3am to catch our flight. Again, the staff, despite their own taxi being down, arranged for one waiting for us. As well, on the way back, we booked ahead and the only room available was a suite. We didn't use the kitchen, but definitely the bath and private deck. All rooms have unlimited free long distance and internet--I yacked with my mom and he with his. I only spent a few hours in that bed, but I dream about the goosedown mattress still.
Like I said, it was a brief stopover, but the quality of accomodations and helpful staff were wonderful. Thank you.

My sister and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was a wonderful find on Trip Advisor. A taxi was waiting for us with our name and once we arrived, our Costa Rica experience started. All the staff was phenomenal. The food was great - breakfast was $10 and somewhat spendy, but you got alot. You could just order things ala carte which makes it cheaper. One night we ordered dinner into our room and it was excellent - a little spendy, but it was delicious. Our room was a bargain - for $49 we got a nice sized room with kitchenette which included a MAC computer in the room and free international calling, which was great. A real treat was the free coffee 24-7. We went to the office, ordered coffee and they delivered it to the little table w/2 chairs right outside of our room. We enjoyed coffee there every morning and evening. They are building on for more rooms and a pool, which will be great for a future visit. We will return for sure!

Room Tip: Room 3 was perfect!

The image of baby angels sleeping on clouds came to mind when I laid on their bed for the very first time. Tossing and turning even more reminded me of those carefree days in my childhood or even as far back as when my mother cradled me in her arms when I was a baby. It was amazingly comfortable that it's still imprinted in my mind even after a year since I last stayed.

Besides the bed, the hotel itself fits my definition of cozy to the letter. From its modest size to the friendly and approachable staff, the hotel appears and feels very homey. The hotel design reminds me of those of southern (states) houses, but blended with European style here and there. If you selected the room with the balcony, you can relax and watch the sunset hues fill the sky as the day winds down.

The staff was very accommodating. Mauricio was very helpful to attending your needs and if ever you have questions, he'll find you the answer if you managed to get him stumped on one.

There is an good amount of space for parking in case you came with a car, and it is close to where the rooms are, so there is no lengthy walk from the parking to the room with your luggage. Getting to the hotel, It is a decent walk uphill from the main road to the hotel. There is a steady flow of taxis circling round the main road, in case you are commuting. From the hotel, there is a taxi service that will help you get around to where you need to go. The attractions around the area (towards Santa Ana downtown) are a few local restaurants (La Casona de Laly or Ceviche del Rey) and places to buy potteries.

Overall, the hotel was very memorable, and easily associated with baby angels on clouds.

Room Tip: Compare Expedia rates with the hotel rates. At times, Expedia has better rates.

Hotel Luisiana was tucked away in San Jose in a quiet area. The hotel was very nicely decorated and the restaurant was phenomenal! Decently-priced wines and the staff was very helpful. Glad to enjoy free wifi and free international calling! Will definitely stay here again if back in San Jose one day.
