I have been a fan since I was 4 , and came all the way from Canada to celebrate my 30th birthday and hello kitty's 40th, it was pouring rain so a lot of the rides were closed, but by noon the sky had cleared up and they opened the rollercoaster (which is kind of scary)Me and my mom blew time by watching the super cute shows and doing shopping within the 3 stores. The Noah show was amazing and not to be missed, as well as meeting hello kitty in her castle. I actually found this park a little better then Puroland in Tokyo as there were actually rides here.It wasn't to hard to get to from oita- train ride then hop into a taxi, they wait at the final stop to take you up there . Was well worth the trip and rain ! Not a ton of English but enough to order food and what you want to buy.

The entry tickets are/were half price for February 2014. I must say I had $15 worth of fun, had it been full price however...
It is true the park is a bit run down and the rides are geared towards small kids, but the amount of squeeeee they fit into the tunnel is unreal.
The park does need some serious freshening up and updating.

The games were mainly catered for young children. The most exciting part was attending the Grand Parade at 12:30. Visitors were asked to stay low on ground but obviously, everyone’s mood stayed ‘high’. In fact my eyes were watery with excitement when seeing Hello Kitty on the show. Other characters participated in the parade include Daniel, Little twin stars, Cinnamoroll, My Melody, Bad Badtz-Maru (XO) and PomPom Purin. Wish to see some old friends such as Patty and Jimmy, kerokero Keroppi !
Adults who are Hello Kitty fans must visit every souvenir shop within the park which has limited edition items, visit the Hello Kitty Lab, her theme house and line-up to greet and take pictures with her.

However, I think the indoor games in Puroland of Tokyo were more appealing.

Check on its Japanese website to print out discount admission coupon.
Taxi fare was around 1600 yen from either Kitsuki/ Hiji station, if unable to catch a bus.

We drove from Yufuin which took us abt 45mins and similar to the rest of the reviewers found the park to be deserted and tired. Entrance fee for once was not that cheap as they implemented one price for all ages. Would recommend the 'show' at 12.30pm if you must go as that is where all the characters gather and do a 30mins show and dance.
The rides are standard and nothing fantastic. A word of caution to pack your own food there or eat before you go as there is very little choice (one cafe that sells hot dog and hello kitty donuts) inside the theme park.

My son was longing to visit this park after having visited a newly established Hello Kitty park in Malaysia. However, it was rather disappointing that the park seem so run down.
Nevertheless, he managed to have some fun time despite the condition of the park.
