We stayed at Benesse House which is in the museum - a unique experience. The museum has an amazing Bruce Nauman, David Hockney, Jennifer Bartlett, Sugimoto photos, and more. Not all are the highest examples but some are and the combination of the building with the art is super. The views of the inland sea add to the experience. The museum's restaurant is not good sadly and the cafe has only light snacks but it is a nice place to sit and have a drink. There is also a nice library with interesting reference books worth a relaxing browse.

This is the first gallery if you start your gallery walking trek from the end of the minibus ride from the port. Colourful/quirky oudoor sculptures incl another dotty pumpkin on a jetty by Kusama Yayoi.
Great architecture as usual and a lovely beachfront cafe

We loved the architecture of this building and my wife loved the content too. Candidly quite a bit of this modern art went right over my head but nevertheless it is a must see site!

If you have seen works of the artists displayed elsewhere, and are not a die hard fan of the architect wanting it see all his work, you could easily be forgiven skipping this museum. The collection is rather small, and seems even smaller due to the general scope in techniques and mediums.

Not a wasted time, lovely building, nice pieces inside, lovely surroundings - but only if you had Naoshima on your mind for other reasons also.

A wonderful gallery that you can actually stay in. Houses a great mix of art. Visit at different times of day if you can as some installations change with the light and some are not switched on all day long.
