Very colourful and photogenic and very very red tori gates - lots of them - and a lovely old tree. You must visit it. Need good legs and go early in the morning.

I visited the Inari shrine with my japanese friends in summer. Tsuwano is a great city with a old main road near the water...to arrive at Inari shrine you can go by bus (but it`s too easy!) or by foot: you`ll find a long starways and you`ll go up through a tunnel of red wood...really impressive!
When you`ll arrive to the top, the shrine will appears in all its beauty! Then, the visitor can buy a little cake to offer at Inari fox, the god of this shrine. For 100 yen you can also buy a card and read you fortune inside: if the prediction is not good you can tie the sheet to the ropes near the temple, and priests will pray to ward off bad luck!

Love everything about this shrine! If you go, you have to walk up through the many toriis and take some time to get some shots along the way. I went with a photography group and we got some amazing shots on our walk up. Once you get to the top, definitely take your time to walk around. If you go to Tsuwano (I have been many times and can go many more!), the Inari Shrine is a MUST!!!
