We went to the Ko Sushi restaurant for lunch prior to our arrival in Shirahama. The food was excellent, lobsters both sashimi made or grilled were fresh and very yummy indeed. The sushi and other seafood offered in the restaurant are of utmost excellence made by experienced chefs. The service was also excellent, waiters enjoy their work in the restaurant and staff even proactively gave us tea in a new cup and wet towels. The ambience was very good, it is filled with Japanese styled environment such as a small lake outside installed with flowing water. The tatami styled dining area was cosy and installed with a heater, which gave warmth to our feet. The price was although expensive, quite reasonable. Staff even gave some mandarins to us without a charge. Overall, a really excellent meal and deserves the five star tripadvisor ranking. Well Done!

The restaurant is very authentic in its setting. The minute you stepped into the restaurant, you are made to feel like a VIP by the staff. The attention given by the lady owner and the staff is sufficient to earn them a Michelin star.

The food is well presented and very fresh. The chef are very friendly and provided us with lots of "entertainment", including bringing up a live octopus for us to hold.

Overall, the experience is one the deserves a Michelin star.

We tried, for two people, the first sushi set, the grilled fish, the maki (cucumber and tuna), and the miso soup. All that sounds familiar to you probably, but for each of these the taste there was very different compared to what we had too many times. Exquisite. The atmosphere in this place is also very traditional, and the family has been running the place for ages, sushi is serious business you do feel it. If you have never been to a real traditional sushi bar, you must try it. Not cheap, but definitely cheaper than in big cities. Count 3000 JPY per head at least, and more if you want to try the more expensive sushis!

This is an amazing place you can't miss it if you're in Shirahama. The staff were so friendly, funny and genuinely enjoyed their work. We had such a great time and they helped us with how to best enjoy each type of sushi (sauces, style of eating etc). I learned so much and the sake was top shelf for the price. Simply incredible food - the special sushi set for 3700 is worth every penny (and would be triple the price anywhere else). It was not just food but an experience I won't forget.

This hidden gem, in a sleepy resort ghost town (only because it is off season), was the best sushi I have ever had. Did a full multiple course meal, every bit was delicious. The sushi is prepared, and placed on the polished counter directly in front of you.

If you are here for the beach, make sure you also go here for sushi!

Best in the world!
