“Impressive city gate”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

Grand red painted entrance to the sacred village of Koyasan. Worth the walk to the far end of the village. Impressive statues of guardian gods at each side symbolising the gods from a to z.

“Big, beautiful gate”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

Located at the west side of Koyasan, this gate is a bit of a gentle walk, but very nice to look at. It seems like there is a stair case to walk up to the second level, but we could not find out if / when it is open to tourists.

“giant gate”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2013

Well worth seeing, but in a sense your typical giant temple gate. Located a bit of a walk from Kongobuji, but can also be accessed by bus.

“It's large!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

We walked to this gate from the centre of Koya. It was a pleasant walk through the snow and the large building was worth the trek. Very imposing.
