Hayama (in Zushi City) is a little beach-side city which is located 50-60km South West of Tokyo city central. It is a town next to Kamakura City. By car, it would take about 1 hour from the central Tokyo and by train it would also take about 1 hour using Yokosuka-Line. It's a lovely city and has a lot of history, not to mention the Imperial Family has their holiday home which they use quite frequently. Not so many foreigner will visit Hayama but there are quite a lot of non-Japanese living in this little town as it has great seaside atmosphere. Hikage-Chaya is one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in Hayama and it dates back over 100 years. I think they do a great job in executing a solid Japanese food. I am not quite sure why they are not listed as Michelin starred restaurant in Hayama especially when some others nearby restaurants which are qualified offers less attractive meals.
