“A great circuit for MotoGP!”
Review of Twin Ring Motegi

Twin Ring Motegi
Reviewed May 18, 2014

Went here for MotoGP 2013. This is a great circuit, really good views from wherever you are! Got to do a pit walk (get in early as you have to queue) and bought a nice T-Shirt for around AUD$10. Also, 2 umbrellas for AUD $5 each ... as it rained. So glad my husband resisted the Harley Umbrella at quite an expensive price as, when leaving Japan, Air Asia wouldn't let us take our umbrellas onboard (happy airport cleaner was grateful for the donation)!! Jetstar allow umbrellas! We were in near top price seating but it was uncovered, so also bought two heavy duty raincoats from Honda Museum for AUD$20 each. The rain delay also gave us time to really explore the Honda Museum ... well worth several hours of your time. Can be tricky getting to the track, especially on practice day, but we survived and got more savvy about travel over the three days. Next time, we'd look at booking the hotel accommodation at the track, but have to get in early or becomes very expensive and fills up quickly. Wherever you stay, make sure you book your accommodation early! (See my review for Chisun Hotel Utsunomiya). We loved Twin Ring Motegi track and we'd go again. There's a man in the info centre at Twin Ring Motegi who speaks great English and was very helpful.

The track is amazing, you will enjoy races here. Maybe do not expect too much from the bar/reastaurant inside.

I could do many experiences and enjoyed eating many kinds of foods in the Twinring Motegi. It is very rural and quiet round there and there are vast place.
I watched car race many times. But I was tired and hungry in the middle of that , because it takes time. Then there were many street vendor’s stall, for example, dessert and meat and so on. So if you are tired and hungry, you can eat anything you like while events take place.
And there are a lot of activities for children. If you want to go there with children, you can go Hello woods. When I went to there, I made a room plate using woods. It was easy for me to make it and I enjoyed it. Also you can do camp there.
There take place fireworks display during summer and winter vacation. Not only adults can enjoy, but also children can. You can have a good time or day at there.

Even if you are not attending for a race, there is plenty to do and see at Motegi. Probably because it is aimed at auto enthusiasts, transportation is difficult for those without wheels, with buses only on weekends and at very limited times. From Utsonomiya, there is one bus in the morning, with only one return time in the afternoon on either Saturdays or Sundays. However, it is well worth it, even for someone like me, from a city with a long tradition of racing (Indianapolis). There are a lot of kid-friendly activities, which made it nice for my toddlers, along with an extensive collection of Honda cars and motorcycles. The kids can even assemble a go-kart and then drive it for practice laps. For older kids and adults, there is go-kart racing, although that was too grown up for our toddlers. We visited on a terribly hot day, but luckily, they planned some water activities with squirt guns and sprayers to cool off the children. That was a nice break from the sweltering heat, which set some records in Japan this week. Because of the time limits controlled by the bus schedules, we did not have time for everything (for example, assembling the go-karts to drive), but we watched them in action and vowed to try them first next time. Restaurants at the track were surprising good and reasonably priced for a resort with a captive audience.
