I don't recommend this place for the people who want to study English. The teachers are not so passionate about teaching. They are just doing their jobs. The rooms were gorgeous, but that's all. The staffs were 50 % Japanese and it's weird to talk with Japanese in English. The food were so-so. The steak I ordered was too well-done.

They say British Hills is both an English language training center and a resort hotel located in highlands in Fukushima. It is accessible by free shuttle bus from the bullet train's station, Shinshirakawa which is 80 minutes from Tokyo Station. All of their buldings are copied those of Shakespearen era nicely. These ten-year-old buildings were much better than Harry Potter's area in USJ in Osaka, which impressed me a lot. I went there with other Japanese English teachers to stay and observe Elementary School students's classes. We also took one of the activities, a scone-baking class whose teacher was fun and cheerful. Most of the staff is native English speakers and offer a lot of situations where guests can experience speaking English. They have an English pub, a souvenior shop, a cafe, a heated pool, a tennis court and even a snooker room. About the hotel rooms, the standard rooms are very spacious and comfortable with old typed furniture in British ways. The dishes there were delicious. As an English language training center, they have nice and enthusiastic teachers as well as worthy methods of teaching English. People from ten-year-old children to grownups can learn English privately, or in a group. You also use it just as a hotel from Medieval Great Britain in Japan. If they had more people from other Asian countries, they would realize a more active, ammusing and attractive English world, I think.

You could always demand for more "professional" services in all aspects, but you can feel that every staff is welcoming you, and for most visitors, that seems to be the reason for coming back again. Dinner is good in quality and quantity. Rooms for improvement in breakfast.
