Although I had read a minus impression about a part of their service on a website in advance, I strongly felt that this hotel has necessary facilities and educated staffs are hospitable to their guests. At a restaurant, a few staffs from abroad (German and others), who stay in Japan using something like an internship, gave us their service in a polite manner.

Not what I call a luxury hotel (though the price resembles one) but for being so far off it is quite ok. The building must be from the 70s (and therefore rather ugly but that applies to all the other hotels in the area, too) and so are the carpets in it. A lot of stains on them and on the walls but clean nevertheless. The rooms are very spacious which does not apply to the bathrooms. I seriously wonder why the architect didn't give it 2 meters more, the room would still be big enough. Staff is all very friendly and helpful and the Onsen in good state and very clean. Buffet offers a wide variety of good quality food.

The staff at reception had excellent English and helped us with our travel plans. They were relaxed but efficient and check in was very smooth with no stress.

The rooms were spotless and comfortable. We had a Japanese style tatami room and asked for western pillows as we aren't used to the harder ones. This was no trouble.
The buffet dinner was excellent - high quality seafood and plenty of choice.
The wildlife theme of the hotel my kids loved.
This isn't a five star hotel, the decor of the lobby and the dinner/breakfast room is not to my taste, but it added to the quirkiness.
Only thing I'd change was to have breakfast lasting later. Only serving until 8.30am isn't very accommodating for people who have small kids/want to lie in.

We stayed in four onsen hotels during our stay in Japan and this was the only one that offered help for our luggage on arrival. We are a group of 4, i.e. two couples. We chose one big Japanese room for all of us. It is a good place to stay. Both the buffet dinner and breakfast offer lots of choices. Even with the large tour groups that stay here also, we are able to get everything we need. There is a path that leads out to the terrace where residents can see the sunset, too.

Stayed here for 1 night while exploring shiretoko area. Hotel is a typical Japanese styled resort. Quite a number of facilities to keep you company. The souvenir shop is rather comprehensive as well.

Breakfast and dinner is a typical Japanese styled buffet.
