“Functional & Nothing Fancy”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

This hotel is huge. The outdoor parking itself is big as one of a shopping center. The lobby area is also huge and looks a little bit like a … shopping center ! The staff is always polite, as anywhere in Japan.

We selected this hotel because of its central location. Indeed, it is about mid distance between the North and the South extremities of Okinawa Honto island. However it is a little bit far from the main road and there is not much around. I strongly suggest using a rental car.

The room is relatively clean, but is definitely lacking of personality. The furniture is aging and tacky. The bed cover is horribly ugly. Everything was functional, but nothing was pleasant. The size of the room is good.

The buffet breakfast is mostly Japanese food, so are the customers. The view of the peninsula from the restaurant is amazing. However as the rest of the hotel, there is neither charm nor character. Everything is functional and that’s it.

We visited during Christmas and the hotel organized a Christmas dinner on 2 evenings. The buffet was not amazing, but was good enough. There was a live band and gifts were distributed to children. The atmosphere was not magic, but it was a nice gesture from the hotel.

I found only one thing that had character in this hotel : the onsen. It is an authentic onsen with a beautiful outdoor rotenburo. Even if the water is probably not volcanic, we enjoyed it.

As it was winter, we didn’t enjoy the beaches. However we went to take a walk and there is nothing worth mentioning. The beach is long, there is fake chapel for wedding, a big souvenir shop and some ruins around the hotel.

This hotel is functional. Beside its name, there is nothing exotic and I would never recommend it for a honeymoon for example. It is good for visiting the island and sleeping at night, for a fair price and with a good onsen.

the hotel is a traditional Japanese resort hotel, it got few restuarants with different types of food, such as French, western Buffet, Japanese. The food is quite good.

It got hot spring too!!! I stayed there for 1 night with my mom and we had such a good time there. the hot spring is clean. i love it.

5 mins walk to the beach from the hotel.

the swimming pool is small and there were sands in the pool.. it was not comfy at all so I'd rather stay at the beach

I am not sure staff there speak english as one of us speaks Japanese quite well.

in conclusion i LOVE LOVE LOVE this hotel , but i think 1 - 2 days stay is good enough, you will get bored if you stay there more than 2 days.

We stayed in this room for a wedding in Aquagrace Chapel. Yomitan is an isolated suburb so don't expect anything fancy from there. In terms of the hotel rooms, we got the tatami Japanese-styled rooms and is very spacious. Bathrooms are big too, and separated the sink and the bathtub. The levels for tatami floors can have a strong smell, perhaps its the humidity plus bamboo interior. The western-styled rooms are no surprise, but spacious too. The relaxing aroma rooms are quite nice, and more newly furnished. The hotel is close to Zampa beach, which is a small but isolated beach. Generally I quite like this hotel, as it is spacious and definitely different from the city. Although it seems quite dated, it is still comfortable. You may see a lot of group tourists and elderly visitors there on a holiday.

I have spent many a night in Japanese hotels. This is probably one of the worst. Don't get me wrong; being a Japanese hotel, it is still quite clean and well-kept, the food is not bad, it's just extremely dated, and I found the bed extremely uncomfortable.

Pluses: oceanfront; it appears every room has an ocean view; free wifi available in rooms; balcony

Minuses: the 1980s decor, the faint smell of cigarette smoke in the halls, nothing to do in the surrounding area, other than a souvenir snack shop across the street; weird bathroom layout (shower and toilet in separate room from sink, and sink was quite low)

Amenities: onsen (no bathing suits allowed), numerous shops, water kettle, slippers, yukata, shampoo/conditioner/shower gel available in bulk bottles, toothbrushes, combs and razors available in the bathroom

There's not a lot wrong with this hotel - it appears to be well run with adequate facilities. However, we chose to stay here because of the hotel's private beach. It was a massive disappointment. Where the sand ended and before the sea washed onto the shore, the ground was littered with stones - not small pebbles, but stones as big as golf balls. There was a truck parked up on the beach near the sea with people chucking the stones into the back. Sandwiched between two concrete jetties, and with the addition of the truck, the beach felt like a harbor under construction.

Having just stayed 2 nights at the Moon Beach hotel nearby with its beautiful beach and sand, this was a crushing disappointment. After about 20 minutes we ditched it, tried the pool, which was okay, and decided to drive to a nicer public beach further north on the following day.

Later we heard that the public beach next to the hotel's beach was a bit better. However, we didn't have time to check it out.

Check out the pictures I've uploaded of the beach to get a better feel of what the hotel's private beach is like.

A positive point for this hotel is that, every evening, at least while we were there, there were free performances in the hotel lobby - the performances were Okinawan folk singing and Okinawan traditional dancing. I saw the former and although I had thought it unlikely this would be of any interest to me, I found it fascinating! The music was superb. I highly recommend checking these performances out.

The communal baths - a little small and nothing special; the restaurant which holds the breakfast and dinner buffets - something akin to a school canteen; the overall atmosphere of the hotel - similar to that of a hospital.

In summary, this hotel is massively lacking in individuality and innovation. There's nothing awful about it, but there's nothing, in my opinion, which makes it memorable. It's remarkably unremarkable! That would have given it 3 out of 5 for my review, but the disappointment of the beach bumped it down to a 2.

The hotel was very spacious in many ways..somewhat waisted spaces. It is located AWAY from amenities, so definitely a rental car is recommended. I got off the tour bus at Ryukyu Mura and got on the taxi to get to the hotel(about 15min. ride). The beach is walking distance from the hotel, but it was not as clear as I hoped for. The restaurant there are ok. I noticed that vegetables/greens in Okinawa were so fresh!

We stayed here only for a night before we left Okinawa. We stayed in one of the lowest grade rooms. We walked in and the rooms were very spacious. The bathroom was extremely clean and tidy. The sink however was a bit low and I had to bend over quite a fair bit when I am washing up. There was a small balcony and it led to views of the south side and the hotel pool. The view was quite amazing as to the right is endless ocean views.

The hotel itself has a few stores that open until mid night which was quite convenient if you want to grab a few snacks or drinks. There are also a few shops that only open after 6pm selling local arts and crafts. The hotel has more than a few restaurants but since I haven't been to any I can't comment on their quality. The Zanpa Beach is within a 5 minute walk to the hotel and hotel guests have coupons that offer discounts at the marine sports they offer there at the beach house. There are a wide range of activities offered and the beach is very nice. The hotel itself has a pretty big lobby which you can tell was probably quite luxurious at the time it was built. Now it looks a bit too contemporary and traditional as it approaches 10 years of age. WiFi is free around the hotel area.

One thing I thought was not very convenient about its unique location is that it's too far from everything. There are no restaurants or shops within walking distance from the hotel. It will take about 5-10 minutes drive before you first see the first convenience store outside of the hotel. Some rooms are newly renovated but will cost about 40% extra.
