Tucked away in the hills of Motubu's Izena I was surprised, many long-time residents of the peninsula, have never seen this beauty. It is a good place to walk in the peace and quiet of nature and get some great photos. After my first visit, I returned, twice within a week. For a grand total of one-hundred yen, you can spend hours there. And, the friendly woman, who lives in the house on the hill even serves you tea with munchies. Flowers, bamboo, a statue of Buddha and stones make interesting subjects but, my favorite discovery was some rare amphibians, swimming in the garden pond. This place is highly recommended to all my nature-loving friends. Sturdy walking shoes are advised. Strollers or, wheelchairs would be difficult, going up and down the stone stairs but, not impossible.
