We had lunch at Daimon after searching for any restaurant opening during summertime. Daimon is only few of restaurant open when we visit Nozawaonsen. Price is moderate and quality is good. They have soba and udon but soba is their specialty, either cold soba or hot soba. The place is not that big with five or six tables available, but it is clean and neat. Located rather hidden from main road. Recommended for lunch at Nozawa onsen.

We walked past and and it was full so walked around the block a few times and came back, glad we did as it is super delicious soba with tempura, we were 3 children and 4 adults and even with 2 small bottles of sake it was still only 9000yen!
We all had different things but each had the onsen cooked egg - you could live on these they’re so yummy - the tempura with hot soba was my choice and was the best tempura I’ve had so far in Japan this trip.
Make sure you try here!

Highly recommended for an inexpensive dinner.
The service is very quick and friendly and the food, with the accent on soba noodles, satisfying. We chose the mushroom soba noodles, the vegetable noodles and excellent tempura prawns, all of which were great.
We did not have a booking but it was busy and we were lucky to get a seat at 6pm on a rainy night.

This place is fab! If vegetarian you must try the cold soba noodles (i believe the hot ones are served in a meat broth). Cold are delicious anyhow, as are the tempura mushrooms! It is a cute and cosy spot just off main drag! Fab service!
