Schanze Nozawa
Reviewed March 7, 2013

Was travelling with 2 mates for a snowboarding trip. This place was perfect for us. All likeminded people staying at Schanze, fantastic location near the gondola station. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Traditional type Japanese futons. If you are on the hill all day you'll sleep fine .

We started our journey to Nozawa Onsen in mid January. Alighting at Shinden bus stop, we walked our way up to Lodge Schanze. Cosy warmth lodge and accommodating service greets us upon our arrival.

Shirley and Carl did a great job recommending us the best food to have, onsen to try and many wonderful stuff to do while staying at Nozawa Onsen. Preparing and flipping awesome breakfast for their guest every morning.

Our room 205, was a traditional futon bedding and tatami mat with a magnificent view of fellows skiers skiing across the lodge and the room itself is at the corner which have no movement from other guests to and fro the toilet and shower.

My partner and I had an awesome 8 days in Lodge Schanze. We loved the easy access to the main village, the easy ski in & out, the ski lockers on ground floor for all our gear made it terrific so we didn't have that stuff in our guest room. Only small issue is that we would love to have our bath towels changed since we stayed there for 8 days.

All in all, it's a 2 thumbs up and a definite recommendation! No doubt about it!
Make sure to Like Lodge Schanze Facebook page and see the videos I've uploaded. :D

And ya...Dont forget to book the Snow Monkey Tour! Dinner at Sakai and try Bashimi(Raw Horse Meat)...And chill or even karaoke at Heavens Bar! We totally love it!

Room Tip: Room at the 2nd floor would be the best especially room 205. Room 205 is in the corner :) On top of...

Dear Iss,

Many thanks for making time to write this wonderful review.

Glad to hear that Carl & Shirley flip awesome breakfast for you each morning! Even happier that you like the fact that Schanze is just steps to the gondola and lifts, and get to watch skiers and boarders ride by the front. It is always nice to be able to ride back home after a long day.

We change the sheets and towels frequently, and sincerely apologize this has not been done during your stay.

We loved the pictures and videos you posted on our Facebook. Keep it coming should you uncover more gems.

We hope to see you back soon, and yes, with your favorite room too.

Cheers,
Team at Schanze

Hi ALL (Snow lovers, Skiers, Snow boarders, Food lovers, Japanese Cultural Lovers...or simply Nature Lovers....)

Nozawa Onsen and Lodge Schanze is the place die-ing for, literally..

Recently in Dec 2012 Christmas period, my family stayed in Nozawa Onsen, Lodge Schanze for 1 week and definitely will recommend any body to do the same...

The whole Nozawa Town and the Ski Slopes were beautiful. The Ski slopes were good for any body (from beginners to expert skiers or snow boarders) and the Japanese Culture and Food, is so uniquely Nozawa.

The owners of Lodge Schanze are extremely helpful and heart warming. They know our needs and are able to help us, from arrangiing our transport, our luggages, our meals and even recommend the hot bath houses and restaurant. At the same time, the lodge is extremely cosy and certainly make us feel at home, all day long. The lodge is located right in the slope itself and you can see people ski ing across your full glass window view and your love ones (kids) can play snow right in front of the lodge, while you watch them from the comfort of the lodge from inside...

Definitely, an Awesome experience that I want to recommend to anybody who want to stay in this amazing place...

John

Room Tip: Talk to the owners of your needs and I'm sure they can work something out for you....

Dear John,

It was certainly wonderful to see your kids having fun right outside the lodge. The lodge always become livelier with the kids around. We are happy to receive the generous compliments, and hope to welcome you again the next seasons!
