First of all, I cannot speak Japanese and came from Bangkok. I arrived in Nozawa Onsen without knowing anything about this town except how its snow resort looked like. I chose Bamboo Hill Sasaokaso for my first visit because the hotel was near the ski lift. It was just 5-minute walk. I could not walk for any longer distance than this because I snowboarded almost everyday through my 7-night stay.
The hotel had a lovely discipline. There was an announcement every morning at 7:45. I never understood what it was said except good morning. But it meant breakfast time. And it was a delicious Japanese style. I had an onsen egg each day.
In the room, I slept on Japanese traditional mattress called futon. Bathroom and toilets were shared. For the bathroom in particular, it was an onsen style.
Lastly, the hosts were so lovely and friendly. We had a difficult time to communicate at first. But eventually, we could understand each other from our efforts.
I was happy and impressed with my first-time visit here. And will come back again.
