I stayed here a couple times over the past few years and it's always such a comfortable stay, feels like going home. Great living room to sit and read a book, enjoy a slow breakfast or chat with others about the skiing or mountain biking. Nice, friendly owners with some great tips on what to do in the area, bars close and not far from Hakuba Goryu, which connects to Hakuba 47, we shall return!

Santana was perfect in every way! We arrived late at about 10:30pm and with just 10 minutes notice, we were picked up from the local station without hesitation.

The setting is great, with the main street containing great restaurants, an onsen and other facilities only a short walk away. The Goryu ski fields were even a shorter walk away!

Albert and fumi were exceptional! they had great insight into local businesses, train times, restaurants and ski locations and their hospitality couldn't have been better. They arranged ski lessons and gave us great deals on renting
ski equipment at a nearby store. You can also get lift passes from them which are much cheaper to buy than anywhere else.

Our room was great, and had everything we needed. Clean, functional and warm!

Was great to come home after a big day and snuggle up next to the fire place and read a book or watch some tv.

Definitely would recommend Santana to any travellers visiting the area whether you are by yourself, with your family or a group of friends!

Could not fault this place one bit!

Santana offers great value, comfortable accommodation, wonderful host Albert and Fumi. They will go out of their way to make your holiday stress free. My wife and i stayed at Santana in late December 2011 and had our first white xmas. The xmas dinner prepared by Albert and Fumi was amazing and popular with all the guest.

The Santana is only a short walk to Goryu lift, restaurants, onsens and train station. But before you venture out to eat i do suggest staying in to sample there menu and wine list.

With 5 trips to Santana in the past 4 years and plans for another trip in March 2013 i would recommend giving Santana a try.

Looking forward to come back. It is so nice to be in such a cousy lodge, managed by a wonderful couple kiwi/dutch and japanese. The breakfast the dog Choc, the tiny but very clean and cousy rooms. and the location so close to the goryu ski resort. It is better than being in hakuba downtown (we got here hitchhiking easily, locals love tourists) it is in kamishiro a train stop before hakuba. lovely experience

Sanatana is in a quiet area of Hakuba. A short walk to Goryu ski field, about 1km from Kamishiro station. Very friendly, helpfull staff; English isn't a problem, and neither is Japanese. The food is delicous, especially the margarita pizza. Kirin on tap too.
Inside looks exactly like the photos on their website. Their website is full of information also. Room size is no different to anywhere else in Japan, so if you have a lot of gear you'll soon run out of space. The drying room does help by taking the bulky gear though.
