Quite a good ski area

It took me a little while to ski around and work out the runs and how to avoid people. Once I was... read more

This season has been a low snow year and has been difficult for Iwatake, but on a normal year here in Hakuba this is a great place to get away from the crowds and be able to ride powder much longer than other resorts here in Hakuba. Also, a lot of windy delays from Happo and Tsugaike and even sometimes the mountains close. Iwatake doesn't have this issue mostly as it's more protected. Worth it!

Although this resort isn’t the most recent it has some really great beginner runs for teaching little ones to ski or board, and a massive variety of on snow food options.

Love riding Iwatake,
Super busy on the weekends though.
Head out the back to enjoy some tree runs or stop the bakery or pop up brewery!

We had fresh snow all day the day we skied here. in fact all the runs up the top had fantastic snow liked whipped cream...yum! We caught the shuttle bus from the Sakka lifts at Happo One and arrived 15 minutes later. The Gondola was busy to begin with so we took other lifts until the crowd cleared. The back bowls were fun. The bakery is a must for a break with yummy Muffins + other things, Hot Drinks and Craft Beer. All to be consumed with breathtaking views (on a clear day) back over to Happo One. A very memorable day skiing.

A nice resort - although suffering a little from no fresh snow . We found some nice runs to fill in the morning - as it did soften by late morning on a sunny day

Craft beer stop for a break by the fire a nice touch
