“Small but heaps of fun”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

We only visited Iwatake once but I would have loved to go back, especially when they had fresh powder. All the runs were fun and we had a great time carving through the trees. The run from top to bottom was awesome due to it's width and the speed you could reach. We went as a group with varying abilities and everyone had a great time. With some fresh powder this place would be outstanding.

“More than meets the eye”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

Great resort for skiing and boarding in powder among the trees or long cruising runs with great views of Happo ski resort. Not as well known as Happo One but a great resort offering many runs at all skill levels. Not busy at all, easy to access with free bus transfers from Happo.

Plenty of chair lifts & 1 gondola and no queues. Well worth trying for 1 day if you're staying at Happo / Hakuba.

“Nicely laid out ski resort - shame about poor restaurants”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

Went there today and despite the almost white-out conditions could see that the resort has some great trails. Hope to return on a bluebird day to actually see where we skied. The chair lifts, like many of those in Hakuba, seem quite old. Very few have footrests and only about half have safety bars. I can get by without footrests but safety bars are a must imo in a resort which advertises it's family and child friendly. The restaurant at the top of the mountain is stock standard. Staff everywhere though, from lifties to waiters, are always friendly - you just need to smile first and make an effort and then they really appreciate it. For intermediate and advanced skiers it's probably only a 1 day mountain. The powder snow though is just beautiful.

“Amazing Amazing Amazing”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

We liked this resort so much we went there twice. We got heaps of powder so all the runs were perfect.
The first time we went there was little visibility but we went for it anyway and had a ball. The second time we saw what the runs actually looked like and were surprised at how steep they are. Regardless of your ability there are nice long runs suited to beginners and intermediate. If it is a nice day though make sure you get there early to avoid long lines at the bottom gondala. If there is heaps of powder do yourself a favour and try the black run closest to the top restaurant. It was awesome but only if there is heaps of powder and it hasn't been chopped up yet.
Have fun!!!

“Knee Deep in the Trees!”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

Unreal mountain, went on a week day. Wasn't crowded at all and still finding fresh lines at 3pm. Had one of my best days riding in japan here and the backside of the mountain has awesome tree runs!!
