Firstly i loved Hakuba, me and my husband totally enjoyed the snow and ski... we were lucky enough to witness some snowfall in april.

Staying at Penke Panke was the best decision, Justin is a fantastic, responsive host... always happy to help, always smiling. All the ppl at Penke Panke like Maryuma, Dave, Mizou (i think) were all extremely warm and helpful people.
Justin went out of his way to help with providing extra jackets for the snow and even lending us his ski pass at a great rate.

Comfortable room, just wish the bathroom was a bit bigger :) there is a laundry inside the lodge which is super convenient. Their shuttle for onsens, restaurants, shops also extremely convenient to get around.
Would love to stay there again

Justin and his team are simply excellent. From start to end they helped us to enjoy an amazing ski trip. Travelling with 3 kids under 10 can sometimes be a challenge, so what did Justin to do help make it easy?
Planning -
1 - sourced transfer transport according to our budget
2 - gave us a choice of rooms, we ended up with a single bunk, double and extra bed, perfect.
3 - answered my flow of questions re ski lessons, kit hire etc, basically brilliantly interpreted the needs of our family.
On site -
1 - the lodge has a perfect set up, great kitchen, a kids home from home lounge, a really happy and chilled dining and lounge area with TV/DVD etc, on site adult ski gear hire, drying room etc
2 - ideal location, with daily runs to the super market, onsen, restaurants
3 - brilliant staff, all friendly and helpful. My children are now all inspired skiers, special thanks to Viv
4 - excellent breakfasts to fuel everyone for the day
5 - great advice about the local area, things to do and restaurants etc. they saved us much stress by telling us about luggage transfer services.

I am sure that I have forgotten something, I can not rate the place highly enough, both our family and friends that travelled with us will be back.

Room Tip: Ask Justin, he will match your needs to availability.

Thank you so much for making our stay so pleasant at the Lodge. Justin couldn't be more helpful and all the other staff were lovely. The lodge went out of its way to drive us around Hakuba and were very accommodating. I would definitely recommend coming back.

4 of us stayed at PenkePanke in March 2014. It was our first trip to Japan and Penke came recommended from a friend. We couldn't have been happier with the lodge. The staff was super helpful and made our stay so easy. The included breaky was awesome. You can walk to Happo One and there are shuttles to Cortina if there is enough interest.
We will definitely be back!

Having never been to Japan to ski we decided to take our 2 sons ( in the twenties) for a family ski trip, due to medical reasons we had to postpone to a later date. The owner was really helpful in accommodated us with new dates and even worked out rooms that would suit all of us. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The accomadation was warm and comfortable. We had ensuites (small but did the job). The shared facilities also looked good, especially the kitchen (big and commercial), good drying room. The bar across the road was a great asset for a relax without venturing too far in the evening. This was also used for our breakfasts (which we're included in the price) and were substantial enough to keep you going for a while. We chose this type of accomadation because we thought it would suit our sons but it was fine for all ages. The closeness to the lifts was a real bonus.

Room Tip: Ask the owner, he will try and find you the most suitable room, ensuite was good for us.

Stayed as a group and had a great time. Very helpful staff, really friendly attached bar and plenty of areas to relax and hangout out in the evening. Close to lifts at Happo. They offer free bus services to local onsens, shops etc and plenty of advice and help on we're to ski/board.

We stayed with small group of lads (5 in total) and had a 3 bed room (double bed and bunk) and the other 2 shared 2 singles. Small but exactly whats you need. The people make the place and for this reason you should stay here. Perfect for families, groups and couples.

Great bar and food make it the best spot in that area. Its not a busy place so having a small bar with a few familiar faces makes it even better. Justin and the team are excellent. Only thing could make it even better - Eggs in the morning!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are different - its either upstairs or downstairs.
