Returning to the little hotel in the forest was a real joy....it was snowing pretty hard ...went last year and I'm so happy I went again this year, what a tremendous improvement. The room making wasn't available every day last year, the food was very, very good compare from last year, staff, some of them spoke good English and all of them very happy to be of service....excellent , will go again next year....if not sooner...

There is nice forest therapy base nearby, you can enjoy walking along stream for fresh air.
The room is clean and onsen is also good.
The view from the restaurant is nice, you can spot wildlife in the yard if you are lucky.
Seasonal guided tour is available to experience natural beauty and I'm really looking forward to joining the early morning tour next time !

This small establishment is located deep in the forrest at the end of a very twisty road. We were greeted by a delightful young lady who had spent time in Canada and was able to introduce us to the inn with quite good English. They also provided an Engish written explanation. There are both western and Japanese rooms available, maybe about 20 in all. This is a lovely, small place, not a typical Onsen hotel for group tours.

There are men's and women's baths with both inside and out door baths. Additionally there is a private bath that can be booked by the hour for a fee. We chose that and had a lovely relaxing hour! The dining is Japanese with a lovely view of the meadow and a brook. The breakfast is a Japanese buffet, but toast, scrambled eggs and bacon were also offered. The automatic coffee machine made excellent individual cups of coffee.

Since we were still having jet lag we were up early and took a short, 2km, walk through the woods. It was the season of the 'kinrensou' or Japanese primrose which were lovely.

Wi-fi in lobby only.

Room tip: Get a Japanese room and open the window to hear the brook

Unique setting, far and deep into the forest. Nice outdoor onsen. Cosy, welcoming lobby of western cottage style. Everything is very creatively woody. Spacious bedroom with modern shower facilities. Very clean and tidy.

However, it is a long drive to arrive at the ryokan, so be prepared to give sufficient time to travel. Otherwise, if the sky turns dark, one gets worried if on the right road or lost in the dark.

Quite an expensive ryokan. Meals are okay but not memorable.

Enjoyed the walk in the forest and river streams in the vicinity early morning when sun rises at 4am.
