Foreign affair was part of the wrapped up in the valley event. They paired arancini balls with their chardonnay. The pairing was delicious. The winery itself is located in a research park. The staff her is very friendly and informative. Definitely worth the stop.

Stopped in to pick up my Wine Club shipment because we were going to be away on shipment day. My wife stayed outside with our two Shih Tzu dogs. The manager saw her at the picnic bench and immediately invited her and the dogs into the tasting room.

We decided to taste some wine, free with our Wine Club Membership. As usual there were excellent offerings but one was special and unusual. The majority of wines here are full bodied appassimento triumphs. But I can’t remember ever having a Sangiovese done appassimento style. Some research shows it is not that uncommon. This was their inaugural vintage and they can be very proud of it. In this case 15% of the grapes have gone through the appassimento drying process for 60 days. The website describes it as ‘An exceedingly balanced and flavourful red wine’. I would call that understatement.

Foreign affair lists Wild Mushroom Risotto as one of many ideal food pairings. We tried that – perfect choice. $35 might seem a bit high for a Sangiovese but this one is worth it. But don’t tell our American friends. At US$27 they might just grab it all.

In a secluded, quiet area is this fine winery offering a wide variety of wines in a charming tasting room setting. Since it was our first experience visiting and tasting their wines, we did a semi portfolio tasting with old standards like Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rieslings, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc to Bordeaux blends. They employ the Appassimento method in part for some of their wines and others benefit from 100%, which adds depth of flavor and increases the alcohol level for some as much as 14-15%. Our knowledgeable and affable guide throughout our hour long experience was Mark, who was patient, friendly and a pleasure! Prices range from $16.95- $29.95 for most with a few specialty wines exceeding $40 and topping out at $150. The wines are stylish, interesting, complex and highly enjoyable, with most offering a very good quality value for your money. Like most wineries, there is a nominal tasting charge that is waived for a multiple bottle purchase. Since most of their fine wines are only available at the Winery, it’s worth your time and effort to visit this very fine Ontario Winery! It’s worthy of 4.5 *! Very Highly Recommended!

Had a great tasting with Tim - very knowledgable and educational. The wines we tasted were all remarkable, both whites and reds. Being in the industry, it's always a nice surprise to discover and visit a winery that is really killing it!

We stumbled across this gem of winery tucked away behind the Vineland research campus.

The moose signs on the highway are what grabbed our attention. We followed more moose signs that carefully guided us to their front door and were greeted by the magnificent “Moosimo”, the very large but welcoming winery mascot.

Our charming and knowledgeable host Mark poured us our 3 choices: Conspiracy, Sangiovese and Petit Verdot. We were instantly hooked! We were then intrigued by their premium priced “full appassimento” wines and went straight to the Cabernet Franc. It was easily the best Ontario red wine we’ve ever had and we went to thinking not only about making the purchase, but how many bottles!

We then had to taste the even pricier Gran Q and it was even better! We didn’t think a wine could be better or even smoother than the Cabernet Franc we just tasted seconds earlier but there it was. We never thought we would ever spend so much on a single bottle of wine, or that a bottle would be worth that premium price. We quickly came back to the reality of our budget so we settled on only one bottle of each. Hopefully they don’t sell out before we return for more!

The person who helped us during our tasting was so knowledgeable and patient with us as we were trying to decide on our wines. The combination wines were the best and also the dessert wines, but there was something for everyone in our group of 5 to enjoy.
Plus - there’s a moose out front to welcome you! :)
