The resort is a lovely home away from home tucked away in a rainforest in Lake Temenggor. Decor and ambiance was just lovely. Didn't really miss the tv. Rooms were large and airy with minimalist design.

Bear in mind that you need to depend on hotel F&B for food which is a bit troublesome during festive holidays as they are short in staff and do not provide ala carte or room service orders. Be prepared with snacks and drinks, bottled water as it's pricey to purchase at the resort.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Belum Rainforest resort. The rooms are clean and spaceous, but a little noisy because the rooms do not have glass windows. The staff is very friendly, and breakfast and dinerbuffets were excellent. We also strongly recommend going on one of the guided jungle tours and having a few drinks afterwards at the resort at the rainforest bar!

First you should know, that this place was for us a break from the west- to the east-coast (kota bharu) - basically stop-over only. anyway - the travel-agency booked us there for two nights, which was one night to much. why is that? well, the hotel is basically nice (if you like the mixture of modern and wooden architecture), the dinner bufet was really good and the stuf friendly. But : there's nothing there to do .... yes, they do have activities to book - but everything is overpriced compared to other places. Simple trip on the lake 150RM per person , Jungle-Walk 70RM pP (which by the way, you can do on your own). When we asked about a good place to swim in the lake, we only got funny looks! If one could swimm at the jetty then - "yes of course". But with kids, this is not really a practicall solution as it's hard to get out for them and very likely one will end up with scale of wood in the hand.
The highligh was the evening frog concert which made up and even drowned the noise from the (too) nearby road. Room was nice to, but in the batchroom, moisture was naging on the ceiling and in the room of our kids, the a/c froze during the night - spitting ice-crunches, when tech service put it back on the next day.

Room Tip: no pool yet - but next year (so, why you want to swimm in the lake ?)

Great surprise with the location and the hotel. We had an upstair bedroom with lovely creaky floors with a view of the road as the lake view was full. Booked through Agoda.com with immediate conformation. There's a forest patch near this hotel around the inundated land where there are monkeys, several types of butterflies and very elusive deer. You can go around this tiny 'island' in two hours. We went down here daily during our 3days stay. Need at least two weeks or more to process entry tickets into the Belum Rainforest where the tigers are. You need to write to a travel agent in the area and they will arrange this.
The food is limited and there's only one place to eat. Best would be to hire a car from Ipoh or KL and drive around.

Room Tip: Lovely view towards the lake end.

We got here early Jan for my birthday. From KL it is about 4 hours drive out. We got ours through Groupon package which includes breakfast and a night jungle trekking. There isnt much to do here so dont stay for too long. I must mention that there is no TV in the room and the Internet connection here isnt too strong either. Remember to bring a book/mp3 player to keep yourself entertained. There is a TV set at the lobby but its always occupied with guests. The overall environment here is cool and fresh, of course peaceful too because there is no TV and no one can call you when youre out there in the wilderness. Its a nice place to relax in the surrounding garden and there is a lake nearby. We did have fun when we went on the Rafflesia excursion though you must wear shoes for this, as the climb is quite steep. The night jungle trekking is about 30 minutes walking in the jungle with flashlights (provided). Do wear shoes, socks, long sleeve top, long pants, bring bug spray, drinking water & small towel. Oh also, stick close to each other because its rather dark in there. If you'd like a beer after jungle trekking, head down about 10 mins walk closer to the lake, where there is a little hut bar. Prices are reasonable.

What I must absoloutly tell you is that, this place is home to the "Riang Riang", some sort of cicada/bug that makes a screeching sort of sound. Its as big as half an Oreo cookie and it flies. So if youre afraid of flying, screeching, loud, half-Oreo sized bugs..do consider working on your sprints before you go.

Tried to make a reservation, but even after 4 E-mails no confirmation. A phone call gave me the impression that the place would be empty. They had no bookings for our date. So didn't risk it and went to Penang.
So it might be a wonderfull place, but they should get there reservation system updated.

Our family of 4 booked the 3D2N Discover Belum Package which included 2 night accommodation, 2 breakfast, 2 dinners, night trekking, full day tour and kayaking/bamboo rafting for RM 638 per person.. The resort is isolated and very difficult to get to without a car. We were traveling from Penang and ended up getting a bus to Baling then another bus to Gerik then a taxi to the resort. We ended up paying for a taxi to take us on to Kota Bharu . The day tour was quite good though a lot of time is spent on the boat and we did not see any wildlife except insects. We were fortunate that the Rafta flower was flowering. Anyone with reasonable fitness can do the short walks on the tour because they are not very long, recommend sturdy shoes as it can be slippery in places. The night trek was OK but with the Kayaki we were left waiting and it took 2 follow ups before someone came. We ended up being only able to do it for 1 hour. The breakfasts were good and the first night for dinner it was a buffet and the second night we were able to chose from a limited menu. Be aware that food at this resort is very expensive and there are no alternatives. A small can of soft drink was RM8.
Currently I can not recommend this resort as they are still building it and the building work is quite noisy. Unless you do the tours there is very little to do. I think this place has great potential once the building work is completed but I think they should focus of developing the tours and not trying to be a 5 star resort.
