The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. We booked two rooms and we specified we want one room with king size bed and the other with a twin beds. When we got to the resort, they gave us exactly what we have requested and also they provided us with connecting rooms which was very convenient for us. The room is designed with a lot of storage space and for the bathroom, hooks and bars are provided to hang towel, clothes etc. The food is accpetable and the local dishes are done pretty well. Throughout our stay the resort was fully booked, there is one night where we couldnt even find a place to have our dinner and we have to wait for a table. My advice, try to avoid public holiday.

We arrived with our 2 teenage boys and were delighted, after the Perenthian islands, to find a beautiful, conservation-orientated resort. It's simple and elegant interior matched the surroundings. The staff were, without exception most welcoming and friendly. Our interconnecting bedrooms (see photo) were spacious, beautiful and spotlessly clean - a welcomed luxury! The buffet dinner, unlike previous reports, was of a high standard, whilst breakfast was fine, if not slightly basic.
And now for the downside - we decided to book onto the 'Tremengor Walk' at the cost of RM250 per person ... we had chosen the hotel more for the Belum Rainforest experience than the luxurious hotel. We were promised 5 scheduled stops over a 7 hour tour. This is what we got:
1. 'explore the Salt Lick at Sungai Enam' (where elephants find trace minerals) - after lengthy tedious boat ride (+1 hour) and yomp up rainforest hill (+30 mins), we came across small puddle (eg Salt Lick!) with surrounding elephant dung. Minimal explanation from guide. Back to boat for ....
2. 'Search for Rafflesia Spot' - another long tedious boat journey + yomp uphill, expecting to find beautiful flowers, only to be shown black pre-flowering nodules on vine! Again, minimal information from guide. Back into boats for another long ride to .....
3. 'Orang Asli Village' - guide volunteered no information. everyone looking like we were the next tour group to visit that day ... couldn't help but notice the TVs & HiFis in the straw huts! And finally, after yet another long boat ride, onto ....
4. Sungai Enam Base Camp Waterfall' - a long +1 hour uphill yomp to awaiting dip in waterfalls! As usual, no explanations from guide on walk. Arrive at waterfall only to spend 5 minutes there before trudge back to boat!
And that folks was it .... hardly worth it, especially with next to zero commentary from guide.
The hotel was without a doubt worth the expense - the beauty of both hotel + surroundings was special, not forgetting the charm and hospitality of the hotel staff. But if we compare our wonderful day with Rajan at the Rajan Guesthouse (Lake Chini) and his passionate, inspirational trek in the rainforest, this is not a patch on it.

We spent two nights and really liked the place, people are very kind and helpfull. Dinner is excellent: buffet with a lot of choice; breafast could offer more choice though but is very good . rooms are very clean, well designed, large and the one we had with a nice view upon the lake.
As far as activities are concerned, we d recommend the "discover Royal belum" that takes you to 5 different places of the huge lake: yet do not expect to meet elephants, we heard them and saw their dropings but they re shy and keep distance. Raflesia are not the size you d expect them to have but all in all we spent a lovely day at the lake and the swimming at waterfall was great.

Located in the middle of the Malaysian Peninsular, close to the Thai border, there aren't a great many places you can stay. I was pleasantly surprised by the Belum Rainforest Resort.

The hotel itself is clean and well organised and the rooms are very spacious, clean and are appointed with modern amenities. I am glad to report the rooms seemed completely bug free, which was a comfort to me when I slept! The air con was efficient and the bathroom was very nice, clean and had a good shower.

We were only passing through for one night, so didn't participate in any trekking or outdoor activities.

During the evening, we enjoyed a game of cards and a few beers in the bar, which overlooks the lake. The service was friendly and attentive and the prices were fairly reasonable to me but expensive by Malaysian standards. There is a decent range of alcoholic beverages for sale and the setting by the lake is very nice. The staff kindly gave us the option of having the music on or off.

I had low expectations of the evening meal but I ended up enjoying it very much,. We enjoyed some good quality local food and the lady who served us was extremely polite and helpful. It certainly wasn't high end dining but the food was fresh and very enjoyable. Anticipating the zero alcohol for sale thing in certain Malaysian restaurants, we brought our own wine. The hotel did not have a problem with this, provided we took a table outside, which was absolutely fine with us. Once again, it was of course, much more expensive than you would pay for street food but I have to say, I really enjoyed the meal.

Similarly breakfast was decent without being incredible. I opted for the local breakfast, which was freshly cooked and quite tasty. Again, service was very polite efficient.

Overall, I would say it would be tough to find a hotel better than this in the surrounding area and I'm happy to recommend this hotel to others.
