We stayed here as part of our tour of Eastern Hokkaido. We had a Japanese style room in the annex, overlooking the creek. It had a luxurious bathroom and an ante-room. It was the nicest room of our two week stay in Japan. Staff had limited English, but a helpful "guide sheet" made our stay easy. The hotel has a shuttle bus to drop you at the local bus station for Kamikawa and is also a stop for the JR Twinkle Bus.

What blew us away, though, was our included dinner when booked through JTB. We had a private room with multiple courses of Japanese food, with a special meal provided for our child. Just couldn't believe it - I thought I'd booked a buffet so we were amazed.

The baths here were also very nice.

Wouldn't hesitate to stay here and recommend it to others.

Although the appearance of the hotel seems less appealing than newer hotels in the area, it is a good middle class ‘onsen’ hotel.
We stayed in the main building ‘Saika’ in August 2009 with two small children.
The room was clean, equipped with private bathtub and ‘washlet’-type toilet, with a nice view of the forest.
(We were given a room at the backside of the building and it was very quiet. We think it was better than front rooms because the hotel faces the main highway)
The room also has an empty fridge, so you can stock up with drinks and fruit you bring.
A Seven Eleven is conveniently located across the street.
The dinner buffet was also good, there were a variety of food (Japanese, Chinese, Western) and sweets to choose from, and they also cook tempura and beef steaks in front of you so that you can eat them fresh.
We could even see deer roaming around in the bush through the window while we ate.
Public bathrooms are large enough, but the open-air bathtub is not so appealing because it commands no view of the outside.
For information, we paid 8,130 yen (about US$85) per person including dinner and breakfast, our five-year-old son 3,150 yen, and one-year-old son was free of charge.
Overall we think it was very reasonable and good value.
