Excellent stay, great apartments, wonderful view, staff is friendly and helpful.
and, the best of all, you can ski from the door of your residence. Both ski schools are nice. Very good selection of groceries in the supermarket, it also has ready made fresh food every day, pizzas and rental raclette, fondue and pierrade. The mountain food restaurant is good and the fast food place is nice for a quick lunch outside. Pizza place is very good as well. We were absolutely happy with everything. Lots of animation for children, there is something happening every night. The teenage Backcountry class at the Spirit ski school is unbelievable, freestyle, hors piste and lots of fun as an alternative to the slalom. My kids loved it.

Great location and super service. Not cheap but there are plenty of cheap and nasty places in the Alps. This is not one of them. We stayed on the 4th floor of the Prince and had a view of the village. The indoor / outdoor pool was lovely after a day on the slopes.

Room Tip: rooms with the fireplaces are v. cool!

We stayed in a type G appartment for max 8 people. We were only a family of five so the three bedrooms and two bathrooms provided ample space. The kitchen was small but had everything you need. The decor is typical chalet style and a lot more tired than the brochure pics have you believe. In that respect, it's exactly what you'd expect from a 4 star ski resort property. A bit faded round the edges, but functioning fine. The mattres was probably the low point. We put a spare duvet underneath us to help not feel the spring coils !
Lots of towels and kitchen cleaning supplies provided.
The real plus about these appartments is the location. When we were there (Feb half term) it was genuinely ski in/out. Right to the door of the complex, with ski lockers as close as you can get. Locker room good - boot racks but not heated.
1950 is a great pedestrianised village. Small but with all you need. and 5 mins in a cable car to 2000 to expand your evening options. A spar supermarket, bakery and restaurants are all within view from the front door. Ski schools meet right outside the door too.
The kids loved the indoor to outdoor pool which was a novelty for them.
Breakfast was buffet style in a restaurant about 5 doors down the street. No problem to get there and the food was again just as you'd expect. Fine to set you up for the day.
I did request a quiet room and was happy with what we were given. Beautiful views over the mountains, not over the town. It was a good tip.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the mountains are quiet. Ask when you book and check when you arrive.

It was my first winter holidays skiing, so I have nothing to compare it with really. Still, I would recommend it to my friends as an excellent place to go. We stayed 1 week in one of the Les Arc 1950 hotels, Hameau, in a cosy 2 bedrooms apartment with a self-catering option. Apartment was very warm, clean, kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for cooking and serving the food, bathrobes provided, and even a room service after 3 days. Sauna and steam room in the hotel - I went there every day after skiing to warm up (unfortunately, last day it was not working, both rooms, don't know why), hot pools outside (didn't risk to try it though). Bars, restaurants and entertainment in the evenings outside were great.

The hotel minus - is the same as everyone mentions here - poor internet connection. We had wifi in the apartment all day long, but you had to log in every time again if you didn't use the internet for 15 minutes, and the speed was not good at all - just enough for a basic mail check and reading news, but not enough to watch video or listen to music, or play online game.

Not related to the hotel, but to my skiing experience - I took a beginner's lessons every morning 2.5 hours with a start in Les Arcs 2000. Overall, it was great, our instructor was very helpful and attentive, managed to teach everyone how to handle our fears and ski. Just one disappointment in the whole trip - on the last day (which happened to be the St. Valentine's day), the instructor did not wait for me when I was the last to come down to the lifts and I got lost, as there were 2 different lifts. I managed to come back to the office by myself in 1 - 1.5 hours, was terribly scared to ski down on the steep slopes where I accidentally took the lifts to. After all, when the office lady reached my instructor by radio and we finally met, he laughed and said "sorry", but did not suggest any alternative how I can have a lesson now instead of the lost one. This was a bit disappointing, not to say more. So, if you are a beginner, be prepared to relay on yourself if something happens - instructors I met on my way back reluctantly tried to call my guy on the radio, but no one suggested to help or to show the way back.

Overall very impressed with the accommodation. The rooms were well furnished although the beds were a little firm for our liking . Wi-fi was very slow. The bath took 45 minutes to fill! I would not recommend the extra cost for the Spa. But the location and local facilities made this a hotel I would go back to any time!

Just returned from Les Arcs 1950 and had an excellent holiday staying in the Premium Residence Le Village. Fantastic cosy accommodation in a convenient, purpose built village - literally ski in, ski out with bars, restaurants, ski hire and a bakery all within a 1 minute walk.
I called with a couple of questions in the week before our holiday and was impressed with the service. On our first day we arrived in Les Arcs before the official check in time and our chalet was ready for us - perfect!
The accommodation is cosy and comfortable - it's not spacious but totally adequate and excellent value for money.
We'd definitely come back and stay here again.

My husband and I have just come back from a week's skiing holiday, staying at Le Hameau du Glacier. We had a classic suite on the second floor (room 207) right opposite the lifts. We were at first a bit concerned with our room being on a lower floor due to comments on trip advisor about the noise levels but our concerns were quickly forgotten: we heard very little noise from other residents, certainly no more than you would expect from a fully-booked hotel. The noisiest evening we had was when the bar / restaurant opposite (le Chalet du Luigi) had music playing from huge speakers outside. Even then it only lasted about 2 hours until about 7.30pm.

Whilst it's true that the apartment would be a bit tight for 4 people, it was a great size for just the two of us. The kitchen was well stocked of equipment and the welcome pack provided all the essentials. The beds were firm but comfortable and clean and the lounge area similarly comfortable. The shower was decent enough and always hot. We also had a huge balcony. The ski locker room was much better than I've experienced elsewhere. There were plenty of seats and it never seemed really crowded, although I think we were lucky with the location of our locker.

Check in and check out were both quick and easy. Unfortunately the same can't really be said for the Pierre & Vacance booking system - purely on the basis that it wasn't clear whether our booking was for Le Hameau or its sister hotel Le Prince Des Cimes. When I sought confirmation from P&V a couple of days before we travelled they responded (after a couple of days) and then asked for an additional 50 euros for confirming this!!

The only negatives we found with Le Hameau were:
1) the lifts. There are only 2 small ones serving floors -2 to 4 and cleaning staff use them too - seemingly during peak times of the day. This meant that we often found ourselves lugging groceries / ski wear up the stairs. Not ideal with tired ski legs. We felt for people staying on the top floors that need to change lifts on the fourth floor to access their rooms.
2) The ski-in to the hotel. Ski out was easy enough but we had not skied in a couple of years and found the ski in a but tricky. Not least because the steep, narrow 'piste' is used as a shortcut for others not staying at the hotel. It felt like a bit of a rat run.

We really liked Arc 1950 generally and there was definitely more there than we were lead to believe. Having skied to Arc 2000, 1800 and 1600, 1950 is far and above the nicest resort to stay. If you are an absolute novice though, we would not recommend Les Arcs. There are no green runs and we found a lot of the blues quite challenging, partly because the pistes were really full of people. There didn't appear to be many learner skiers (outside of ski school) and so we often found ourselves being cut up by skiers/boarders that really should have been on red runs.

Dear guest,

I wish to thank you for having taken the time to review our residences Pierre et Vacances Premium Arc 1950.

Hameau du Glacier is the first residence which was built on the village. This is a very cozy residence, allowing direct access to the indoor pool by the gateway.
I must admit agreeing on your point regarding the size of the elevators of our residence Le Hameau, larger lifts would indeed have been rather more convenient.

I am pleased to note that your stay in Les Arcs 1950 has brought you great satisfaction and hope having the pleasure to welcoming you again.

Best regards,
Laurence A.
